Joshua Kimmich faces an uncertain future at Bayern Munich.

The German star is out of contract with the German club at the end of the season and Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer is keen to retain Kimmich heading into the 2025/26 campaign.

Liverpool have shown an interest in Kimmich and have already spoken to his representatives as the Reds have been long-term admirers of the 30-year-old.

The Reds have several contract situation’s of their own to deal with before the summer, one being Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Kimmich would be a good replacement and for the English full-back and the lastest news out of Germany has opened the doors for the Premier League leaders to complete a deal for the Bayern legend.

Bayern Munich withdraw Joshua Kimmich contract

It was reported last week that Kimmich was very close to signing a new Bayern Munich contract after negotiations seemingly went to plan.

However, BILD’s Christian Falk has reported that the German giants have withdrawn their offer, leaving the future of the 30-year-old in limbo.

Many clubs will now become interested in Kimmich’s situation with the likes of Barcelona being a potential destination for the midfiedler, given their financial issues.

As for Liverpool, the 30-year-old would solve several issues at Anfield as he could fill in at right-back should Alexander-Arnold join Real Madrid this summer, while also providing Arne Slot with cover in the number six position.

This would only provide the Merseyside club with a short-term solution, but there is an better option in the Bundesliga that the Reds should explore this summer.

Liverpool should consider a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong

Liverpool have been linked to Jeremie Frimpong in recent months as the Dutch star is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the current campaign.

Frimpong has rejected Liverpool in the past, however, this summer could be the perfect opportunity to move to Anfield for the Bundesliga star due to the potential of Alexander-Arnold leaving and the presence of fellow Dutchman Slot at the Merseyside club.

According to GFNG, former Liverpool star and Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has described Frimpong as a ‘special player’ having thrived under the Spanish coach in Germany.

Frimpong is a natural wing-back, but if anyone can covert the 24-year-old into a right-back, it is Slot. The Dutch star ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool, his age, his attacking style of play, and his athleticism to name a few.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League leaders make a move for the Dutch star this summer as the defender would be a much better long-term solution than Kimmich.
