After almost a decade of Trent Alexander-Arnold dominance, Liverpool may have a new starting right-back next season.
Alexander-Arnold has been a fixture in the Reds team since 2017, becoming one of the best right-sided defenders in the world over that time.
However, with Real Madrid circling and the Scouser yet to sign a new Liverpool contract, plans need to be drawn up about a potential replacement.
Reports have claimed that Liverpool are still hoping for Trent to stay, but it’s starting to look like that may not happen.
It’s going to be a big job for the Reds to replace him, Alexander-Arnold has a unique skillset that very few players in the world can claim to have.
Still, there are players out there who could be exciting additions at Anfield. One of them is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong, who has emerged as a contender for the title of ‘best right-back in Europe.’

Liverpool insiders play down Jeremie Frimpong move
Frimpong has been linked with Liverpool as they aim to find the best succession plan for Alexander-Arnold.
The 24-year-old has been magnificent at Leverkusen since Xabi Alonso’s arrival in 2022, becoming a big part of the undefeated double-winning side of last season.
And as Frimpong continues to excel, The Daily Mail report that he is set for a move to a ‘top European club’ in the summer of 2025. Liverpool are mentioned as one of the sides ‘mooted as a potential destination’.
However, insiders at Anfield are said to have ‘played down’ links to Frimpong when questioned about them.

Manchester United are named as being one of the teams ‘keen’ on the Netherlands international, as well as other, unnamed ‘top’ clubs.
The Mail also report that Frimpong has signed a new, £20m deal with New Balance, who are claimed to see him as ‘the most exciting right-back in Europe.’
Frimpong reveals Liverpool rejection
For the moment, it seems as though Liverpool are not expecting to bring Frimpong to Anfield in 2025.
That could of course be good news in some respect. Perhaps the Reds are still confident that Alexander-Arnold will be in situ after all.
As it turns out, though, it will be the second time that Frimpong has had a near miss with Liverpool.
On Tuesday, Frimpong claimed that he wanted to join Liverpool as an academy player back in 2010, but the journey from Manchester was too far for his parents, who didn’t drive.
As a result, young Jeremie joined Manchester City instead. 15 years on, it seems as though his Liverpool dream will be dashed once again.
