Life under Arne Slot at Anfield has got off to a better start than most expected, as the Reds currently lead the Premier League from Arsenal by six points after 23 games while remaining in every cup competition.
Slot and his players will only have eyes on the remainder of the campaign with quadruple talk already surrounding Liverpool. However, those higher up at the club will be thinking ahead.
Liverpool have approached the current campaign by making very little signings after spending a large amount on an entire new midfield last summer.
This has set the Merseyside club up nicely for the 2025/26 campaign as it was likely the season the Reds’ board were targeting competing on all fronts under Slot after giving the former Feyenoord boss a year to settle in at Anfield.

Liverpool’s 2024/25 spending is not a bad thing
Liverpool only welcomed Federico Chiesa to Arne Slot’s squad last summer, while Giorgi Mamardashvili was acquired from Valencia but went back to the La Liga club on loan for the remainder of the term.
Having brought nobody to Anfield in January, Liverpool spent just £34.7m on new players this season, which is £196.7m behind Brighton and Hove Albion, who lead the way with £231.4m
This would be causing uproar amongst the fanbase had this season gone similarly to that of Man City’s, but seeing as Liverpool are in top form at present, this has proved to be a good thing in hindsight.
The 2024/25 campaign has given Slot the chance to evaluate his whole squad before deciding on what positions to address and who to sell this summer.
The lack of spending has also put the Reds in a good position with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, which will allow the Merseyside club to sign some top players ahead of the new season.
Things have worked out perfectly for Liverpool should events on the pitch go the way they have been, but this summer, key positions need to be addressed.

Liverpool need to attack the 2025 summer transfer window
A recent report from the Daily Mail has suggested that Liverpool are ready to attack the 2025 summer transfer window and that money is no problem for the Merseyside outfit as Slot looks to address key areas.
The plan will be to keep the Reds where they currently are and that means addressing some key areas in Slot’s squad.
Left-back will be a major concern for the Dutch coach as he has seen Andy Robertson struggle this season at Anfield. The Scottish star doesn’t look to be the same player who starred in Jurgen Klopp’s team, hence why Liverpool have been linked with Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez in recent days.
With the future of Darwin Nunez at Liverpool being uncertain, a new striker should be on the agenda for the Reds as Slot has been using Luis Diaz in the role for months now.
Diogo Jota’s fitness issues make him a problem for Liverpool as the Portugues star cannot be relied upon to keep fit. Therefore, it is safer for the Merseyside club to go out and sign a top striker this summer.
These two areas will be the two Slot will be most eager to fix, with anything else arriving being a bonus. Liverpool are in a great position heading into the new season, but that will not be at the forefront of the playing squad, who have other things to worry about at present.
