Steve Nicol names the trophy he really wants Liverpool to win while addressing quadruple hopes

In recent years, Liverpool have been involved in plenty of quadruple chat but it is a feat nobody has yet to achieve.

Heading into the final month of the 2021/2022 campaign Liverpool looked closer than anyone to winning the quadruple as Jurgen Klopp’s men would play every single game possible during that season.

The Merseyside club would go on to win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, but would ultimately fall short to Man City in the Premier League before suffering defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris.

Last season, quadruple talk began once again following Liverpool’s Carabao Cup win over Chelsea, but the Reds campaign would fizzle out towards the end of Klopp’s time at the club.

Arne Slot’s team have put themselves in a great position to try and achieve this piece of history across the remainder of the season, however, pundit Steve Nicol cannot see his old club achieving it.

Steve Nicol addresses Liverpool’s 2025 quadruple hopes

Having passed the halfway point of the 2024/25 campaign, Liverpool currently find themselves top of the Premier League and Champions League tables, while the Reds remain in both domestic cup competitions.

When asked a question about Liverpool’s quadruple chances during ESPN FC’s Extra Time, pundit Steve Nicol stated that he cannot see the Merseyside club achieving the feat this season.

“No,” Nicol simply replied. “What would the odds be to win four? Nobody’s ever done it. That’s how difficult it is, you’d have to say no. I’d settle for the Premier League title.”

The league is the trophy the majority of Reds fans want to see their team winning this season and Nicol is confident Liverpool can get it done.

Arsenal remain a threat to the Merseyside club’s hopes and the Gunners will hope that Slot’s men are still in the hunt for the quadruple late in the campaign.

Quadruple charge could hurt Liverpool in Premier League title race

Arsenal were recently eliminated from the FA Cup and have a tough job of overturning their 2-0 deficit to Newcastle in their Carabao Cup semi-final tie.

This would allow Mikel Arteta to focus on both the Premier League and Champions League for the remainder of the season, while Liverpool would be forced to play more games and expend more energy while fighting on all four fronts.

Mohamed Salah really wants to win the Premier League this season and the Egyptian is not the only one in the squad.

Klopp pushed for the quadruple back in 2022 but that hurt Liverpool’s season in the end and history could repeat itself this term, should the Merseyside club go deep in all four competitions they remain in.
