Liverpool will enter the 2025 summer transfer window in search of a left-back.
Andy Robertson has had an up-and-down season at Anfield and the Scottish star’s form has caused Arne Slot problems in that area of the pitch.
The 30-year-old remains a key part of the Dutch coach’s plans at the Premier League leaders, but Robertson has been rotated at Liverpool more often this season than prior campaigns.
Fans have not been happy with Robertson on several occasions, with his recent performance at Wolves standing out, hence why Liverpool are in the market for a new left-back.
The Reds have been linked to several in recent weeks, however, there is a possibility that two arrive on Merseyside ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Milos Kerkez and Jorrell Hato could both arrive at Liverpool this summer
Liverpool have been linked to Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez for some time as the Merseyside club have a clear interest in the left-back.
More recently, Jorrell Hato of Ajax has been tipped to move to Liverpool, with the Dutch star even appearing at Anfield after being invited by Ryan Gravenberch.
Speaking about Liverpool’s search for a new left-back, David Lynch has stated that the Merseyside club would likely prefer Kerkez over Hato due to his profile, but the Reds reporter did not rule out the Premier League leaders attempting to sign both.
“I mentioned [Miguel] Gutierrez in a piece I wrote on substack as someone that they also like, who’s at Girona,” Lynch told Anfield Index.
“There’s a few potential left backs out there who they like. It’s interesting with Hato because he’s a slightly different profile. So I don’t know whether Liverpool are going to go down that route.
“For the left-back they need is kind of someone who’s coming in ready to be first choice from the off, and someone who’s more in that Kerkez age profile, played a bit more, played a bit maybe in a tougher league as well, and he’s ready to kind of come in.
“I’m no scout, so I don’t know Hato inside out, but I think Kerkez maybe fits that bill a little bit more. Gutierrez does, and you know I think Slot has shown as well that he’s not necessarily looking for that centre-back come left-back profile. He’s looking for an actual left-back.
“You could see a world where Hato and Kerkez arrive, that could be a possibility, I wouldn’t rule that one out.”
The arrival of Kerkez specifically would not be good news for the future of Robertson but the Scottish star could remain at Anfield for another season.
The future of Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas at Liverpool
Robertson’s contract at Liverpool expires in 2026 and it is looking likely that the Scottish defender will see that out.
It was recently reported that Roberston will likely remain at Liverpool over Kostas Tsimikas next season, with the Greek star set to move on this summer.
That would make Kerkez the perfect option for the Reds this summer as the 21-year-old is the ideal profile and age to learn from the 30-year-old next season before taking over the campaign after.
Ajax are said to be looking for at least £25m in order to sell Hato this summer and given that the Dutch star can play at left-back and as a centre-half, that could be an option Slot prefers.
The Premier League leaders have a decision to make but what is clear is that change is coming to the left side for Liverpool’s defence.
