Aston Villa are the next opponent on Liverpool’s path to the Premier League title.
The Reds travel to Villa Park on Wednesday night and Arne Slot will be without Cody Gakpo and Joe Gomez heading into the contest.
The Merseyside club will follow this up with a meeting against Man City on Sunday, making this week a crucial one in the Premier League title race.
The games grow more important for Slot’s team as the season progresses and the Dutch coach will have to be smart with how he rotates from here on out.
Several Liverpool stars could be playing for their futures at Anfield over the coming months and one of those may get the chance to impress Slot against Aston Villa.

Kostas Tsimikas faces an uncertain Liverpool future
Kostas Tsimikas has been a great servant to Liverpool since his £11.75m arrival from Olympiakos during the summer of 2020.
Having recently made his 100th appearance for the Reds, Tsimikas said it meant everything to play for Liverpool this many times, but with a contract expiring in 2027, the defender faces an uncertain future.
Andy Robertson has struggled at Liverpool this season and that has seen Tsimikas handed more minutes by Slot, however, the Scotland star remains the number-one choice at left-back.
| 2024/25 stats | Andy Robertson | Kostas Tsimikas |
| Games | 33 | 22 |
| Goals | 0 | 0 |
| Assists | 1 | 2 |
With games becoming more important, Slot will likely pick Robertson for most matches going forward, but the trip to Aston Villa may hand Tsimikas a chance to play as the 28-year-old has not started in the Reds’ last two games against Everton and Wolves.
The Greek star hasn’t started in the Premier League since Brentford on 18 January, which means Villa could be one of the left-back’s last chances to impress Slot from the opening whistle this season.
Some good performances from Tsimikas could see him continue as deputy for the starting left-back at Liverpool next season as the Reds continue to search the market for targets.

Left-backs Liverpool are interested in signing this summer
Jamie Carragher has called for Liverpool to sign a left-back ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and there are sevarla options on the cards for the Reds.
Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is being considred by Liverpool as the Hungarian star continues to impress in the Premeir League this season with the Cherries.
Liverpool are also beleived to like Fulham’s Atonee Robinson, however, the 27-year-old’s age could turn the Merseyside club off the USA international.
A very exciting signing for the Premier League leaders could come from Benfica as Alvaro Carreras has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, with the 21-year-old considered one of the best full-back prospects in Europe.
Change is coming to the left-back role at Anfield this summer but it remians to be seen if either Robertson or Tsimikas survive it.
