Wirtz joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in a club record deal worth an initial £100m in 2025. The transfer could become a British record signing totalling £116m if add-ons are met.
Progressing through the ranks at FC Koln, Wirtz joined Leverkusen in January 2020, making his first-team debut as a 17-year-old five months later. He joins Arne Slot’s Liverpool team to add trickery, skill and thrust as one of the best attacking midfielders in world football.
