Liverpool are expected to have an active summer transfer window, with a few names already being linked with a move.

Yan Diomande wants to secure a move before the 2026 World Cup gets underway amid interest from the Reds and Champions League winners PSG.

Elsewhere, Liverpool want to sign a right-back in the coming window, and Denzel Dumfries has been linked. But Arne Slot being sacked could have an impact on the Dutchman arriving at Anfield.

Liverpool may no longer want to sign Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan

Liverpool may have asked about Dumfries in Curtis Jones negotiations late last month, which saw sporting director Richard Hughes in talks with Inter Milan.

However, Fabrizio Romano now has a new update on interest in the Dutch full-back.

Real Madrid have emerged as a possible destination for Dumfries ahead of his likely summer transfer, which isn’t ideal for Liverpool anyway.

But Romano goes on to explain that the Reds plans could now change after Slot, a Netherlands native, has left the club.

Taking to X/Twitter, he stated: “Understand Denzel Dumfries has release clause worth slightly less than €25m this summer.

“Real Madrid are informed and in touch with his camp. No bid/talks needed: clause or nothing. Liverpool were keen but Slot gone could change plans.”

You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

Liverpool could sign Lutsharel Geertruida as a Denzel Dumfries alternative

Whether Liverpool sign Dumfries or not once a new manager comes in remains to be seen.

But there is another right-back option the club have been looking at for a while.

Lutsharel Geertruida was Liverpool’s top target during the 2026 winter transfer window after both Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong picked up injury issues.

Meanwhile, it emerged in late May that the Merseyside outfit are still interested in Geertruida, and were said to be ‘closely following the Dutch defender’ along with Tottenham Hotspur.
