Contracts have been a big topic of discussion at Anfield all season long.
Liverpool entered the 2024/25 season with a messy contracts situation and that has not improved as the campaign has developed.
Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are expected to remain on Merseyside next season and beyond; however, the Premier League leaders look to have lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.
The mess does not stop there as Luis Diaz’s future is in doubt due to his contract situation, while Ibrahima Konate is being monitored by PSG as his deal at Anfield expires in 2026.
It was reported by The Times on Monday that Konate has stunned Liverpool by making clear his demands for his new contract as the defender wants a whopping 150% increase to £200,000 a week.
The Merseyside club are unlikely to grant the player his wish, therefore, here are three players who do deserve a pay rise at Liverpool.
Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones is not the most important player for Liverpool but the midfielder has been a key element of Arne Slot’s squad this season featuring 39 times, racking up over 2074 minutes of action.
The English talent will look to kick on further at Anfield next season and will have plans to become a starter, as Slot would have been impressed with Jones’ recent Everton display, in addition to his other performances throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
Jones has a contract with Liverpool until 2027 and until he signs a new one, the 24-year-old will continue to be under paid.
According to Capology, the midfielder earns just £15,000 a week at Anfield, which falls a long way short of what Jones offers his team.
Luis Diaz

Although his future remains uncertain, should Diaz sign a new contract with Liverpool, the Colombian star deserves a pay rise as the winger earns just £55,000 a week at Anfield, nearly £300,000 less than fellow wide man Mohamed Salah.
The 28-year-old has been a major player in Slot’s success this season at Liverpool as the Dutch coach has trusted the winger to play through the middle, as well as out wide.
Saudi Arabia are interested in Diaz ahead of the summer transfer window and the salary they will offer the Colombian star will be much higher than what he is currently earning on Merseyside.
This could prompt the former Porto star to depart Liverpool this summer and it may be a reason the Reds are wary of offering the winger a new deal, as they know the player requires a big salary increase.

Ibrahima Konate

Although fans may disagree with Konate demanding £200,000 a week to stay at Liverpool, the French star is a player who deserves a pay rise at Anfield as the centre-back is currently earning £70,000 a week, which does not reflect his contribution to the team.
Liverpool are keen to tie Konate down to a new long-term deal and will be aware that they will have to offer the centre-back more money in order to achieve this.
With Virgil van Dijk currently being 33, the France international is the future of Liverpool’s defence, while Konate is also a potential future captain with the Premier League leaders.
The Merseyside club simply need to get Konate to sign a new contract as it would be a huge blow should the defender walk away for free next summer.
