Liverpool have several contracts that need sorting out in the coming months.
The futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will be the Reds’ top priority over the coming weeks as the trio’s deals at Anfield expire in 2025.
Arne Slot could have a big problem on his hands heading into the 2025/26 campaign as several other stars have contracts coming to an end within the next two years.
One of them is Ibrahima Konate, whose current deal runs out during the summer of 2026, which will attract the interest of several clubs.
Fabrizio Romano reported that a new Liverpool deal for Konate was in the works at the end of last year, however, there has been no sign of a contract being signed by the French defender.
Reports out of France are stating that the centre-back’s position is clear as the 25-year-old prepares to return home to Paris this week.

Ibrahima Konate already knows his Liverpool future
Konate is the future of Liverpool’s defence and the centre-back is a player the Merseyside club simply must offer a new contract.
PSG have shown interest in Konate over recent months, but the Ligue 1 leaders are yet to make an official move for the Reds defender.
Liverpool are believed to not be concerned by the interest in Konate and reports out of France suggest why.
According to Le Parisien, Konate’s management have an offer from Liverpool in their hands and the Premier League leaders hope the 25-year-old stays for many more years.
The centre-back is believed to be taking his time on deciding his future and has not yet expressed a clear choice of what he is going to do.
Liverpool won’t be concerned by this as the reason for Konate taking his time is due to the French star being fully focused on bringing the Premier League back to Anfield this season.
Arne Slot needs to build his backline around Ibrahima Konate
Van Dijk’s Liverpool career is coming towards its end as the Dutch defender turns 34 this year. Once the veteran’s Anfield chapter concludes, this is when Konate will take over as the leader.
Sky Sports previously reported that Konate is keen to remain at Liverpool and Arne Slot needs to convince the French star that he will build his backline around the France international over the next five years.
The 25-year-old has been a key part of the Dutch coach’s team this season, featuring 30 times in all competitions, scoring two goals and assisting a further two.
Konate is a fantastic talent, hence why the likes of PSG are interested in the centre-back. The Merseyside club cannot let his contract situation play out in a similar way to Van Dijk’s and once that deal is complete, the focus should immediately shift to the French centre-back.
