The Newcastle player who Liverpool should be targeting to sign over either Alexander Isak or Anthony Gordon

After beating Manchester City, next on the agenda for Liverpool is a visit from Newcastle United.

In what will be almost a warm-up for the Carabao Cup final in March, the two sides will face off at Anfield only two and half weeks before their eagerly awaited Wembley matchup.

Newcastle gave Arne Slot’s side problems in the reverse fixture back in December, with Liverpool target Alexander Isak running riot at St James’ Park.

Anthony Gordon was another Reds-linked player who shone bright that day, with Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah struggling up against the Magpies winger.

Having been linked to both Isak and Gordon in recent times, Slot will no doubt be keeping one eye on them at Anfield.

There is however another Newcastle star worth watching on the night, one who Liverpool could make a move for in the future.

Liverpool should target Lewis Hall over Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon

With Newcastle valuing Isak at £150m and Gordon seemingly staying put at the Magpies, Liverpool may be better off targeting another player in Black and White – namely Lewis Hall.

Having arrived from the Chelsea academy in 2023, the 20-year-old struggled at St James’ Park during his debut campaign.

Hall however has sprung into life this season and been a revelation for the Magpies, making the left-back position his own.

The Cobham graduate has racked up an impressive 33 appearances so far, notching five assists during that time – a run of form which saw him receive his first senior England call-up in November 2024.

With Hall shining at left-back for club and country – it may suggest he could be the ideal defensive signing for Liverpool this summer.

Hall could be perfect Andy Robertson replacement

Despite their success this season, the Reds have endured some difficulties at left-back, with Andy Robertson receiving criticism for his performances.

The Scotsman has been an ever-present for Liverpool over several years, but at 30 years old he is now starting to show signs of slowing down.

Tasked to play almost every game for Slot’s side, Jamie Carragher claimed Roberston needs help at left-back saying he is ‘hanging on in every game’.

So what better way to ease the burden on Roberston than to sign him an understudy in the shape of Hall?

Quick, defensively solid and bright going forward – Hall compares quite similarly to a young Roberston and the Scotsman could potentially be the perfect teacher for the 20-year-old if FSG were to secure a deal.
