Anthony Gordon has developed into one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League.

The winger showed his potential when at Everton, but it was clear that the England star was still raw and needed to refine his game.

A move to Newcastle in 2023 has seen the 23-year-old take the next step in his development as Eddie Howe has brought the best out of the former Toffees star.

Playing alongside Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy in the Magpies’ front three, Gordon has become one of the most attractive wingers in the Premier League and being just 23, the winger is only going to get better.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Gordon last summer in a deal believed to be worth around £85m as the Tyneside club looked to rectify their issues with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

The Liverpool-born star may be destined to return home one day and his latest comments about the Reds may have just increased this.

The family of Anthony Gordon are all Liverpool fans

Jamie Carragher admitted that he would love Gordon at Liverpool when the Reds were linked to the Newcastle star last summer and the chances of that happening might just have increased.

Gordon was a guest on A League of Their Own this week and while speaking on the show, the winger stated that all his family members are Liverpool fans, despite the 23-year-old playing at Everton.

“I have no family members that support Everton. None, not one” Gordon stated on the show when asked if his family supported the Blues.

The Newcastle star would continue by saying: “All Liverpool. So it was quite strange [playing for Everton]… I was at Liverpool and they released me when I was 11. Then Everton signed me.”

The 23-year-old ticks many of the boxes that Liverpool’s hierarchy look for, and these comments highlight that he would be playing for more than himself.

With the future of some of Liverpool’s forwards uncertain heading into the summer, the Reds could revisit the Gordon situation ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz face uncertain futures at Liverpool

It is well-documented that Mohamed Salah is out of contract with Liverpool this summer and that the Egyptian superstar has yet to agree new terms with the Premier League leaders.

Gordon could be a replacement for the 32-year-old should he depart Anfield, although it is more likely that the Newcastle star is the long-term successor to Luis Diaz.

The Colombian is out of contract at Anfield in 2027 and it is being reported that Liverpool will not offer Diaz a new deal.

The left wing is Gordon’s natural position and this looks like a plausible route the Reds could go down either this summer or next.

The England winger is young, has blistering pace similar to Diaz, and his end product continues to improve season after season.

Liverpool fans would be excited by the arrival of Gordon, especially after his latest comments about their club, and it seems like a transfer that is destined to happen should the winger continue to develop at his current rate.
