The January transfer window has been quiet for Liverpool so far as the Reds keep an eye out for good opportunities.

Arne Slot is “very happy” with his Liverpool squad, which suggests that the Merseyside club will only move for a new player if a good opportunity arises over the remainder of the transfer window.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was a big name linked to Liverpool this month, with many fans getting excited about the opportunity to sign the winger as it emerged he was likely to leave Napoli.

PSG would eventually win the race for the Georgian star as the Ligue 1 champions showed serious intent on bringing the 23-year-old to Paris.

As for outgoings, Saudi Arabia have shown an interest in Darwin Nunez as the Uruguayan’s season at Anfield has not gone to plan.

The business Liverpool are likely to do over the coming days is going to be around loan moves and a decision on two highly-rated talents is set to be made next week.

Liverpool set to decide on the futures of Jayden Danns and James McConnell

It was reported earlier in the transfer window that Liverpool are considering sending Jayden Danns and James McConnell out on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Athletic’s James Pearce has provided an update on the youngsters’ situation with the Liverpool journalist stating that the Reds will decide on their futures next week as the transfer window comes to a close.

Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End are among several Championship clubs keen on signing Danns for the remainder of the season, while McConnell also has several suitors from England’s second division.

The Athletic states that Liverpool are weighing up whether to keep the duo around as cover as they continue to compete on four fronts or secure them regular first-team football elsewhere to further their development.

Lewis Koumas once described McConnell as a “special” player, who is currently on loan with Stoke City, and the 20-year-old could soon find himself joining the Wales star in the Championship.

Regular minutes will especially be key for the future of Danns as an opportunity may arise for the 19-year-old next season and the Reds star could learn from several of his teammates in Arne Slot’s squad.

Jayden Danns could follow in the footsteps of other Liverpool stars with January move

Loan moves to the Championship and other English leagues have played a key role in the careers of many Premier League stars and that is no different at Liverpool.

Conor Bradley spent time on loan at Bolton during the 2022/23 campaign and it benefitted the 21-year-old massively last season as the right-back played a big role at Anfield when called upon to cover Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Jarell Quansah made the temporary move to Bristol Rovers in January 2023 for half a season and in return, developed enough so that Jurgen Klopp trusted the centre-back in several big moments throughout the 2023/24 campaign.

This is the aim for Danns and McConnell should they go on loan this month and for the striker it could be very beneficial should Nunez and Diogo Jota depart Liverpool during the summer transfer window.
