The latest news, rumours, opinions and updates about former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah from Rousing The Kop. Quansah joined the Reds’ academy at the age of five and progressed through for his first-team debut in their 2-1 comeback win away to Newcastle United in August 2023.
Quansah also captained the Merseyside natives’ Under-18 team to the FA Youth Cup final in 2021. His displays at junior level in the 2021/22 season then caught Jurgen Klopp’s eye for his first senior matchday involvements, before a permanent role in the senior squad followed. Quansah was part of the team which won the Premier League under Arne Slot in 2025.
After growing frustrated with a bit-part role under Slot, Quansah left to join Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £35m. Liverpool inserted a buy-back clause worth a reported £51m into Quansah’s contract, which can be triggered from 2027.
