Liverpool have three Trent Alexander-Arnold replacements on their radar

Concerns surrounding the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold have tempted Liverpool to keep tabs on Jeremie Frimpong, Michael Kayode and Vanderson as potential replacements. Fears remain at Anfield that Alexander-Arnold could leave for free when his contract ends in June.

That is according to CaughtOffside, which reports that Liverpool are preparing a future that does not include Alexander-Arnold. Talks between the Merseyside squad and England right-back have reached an impasse as Liverpool look to convince him to agree to a new contract.

Real Madrid are preparing to target Alexander-Arnold’s Bosman transfer with overseas sides able to launch negotiations on January 1. So, Liverpool have drawn up a list of replacements which features Bayer Leverkusen’s Frimpong, Fiorentina’s Kayode and Monaco’s Vanderson.

Frimpong has drawn Liverpool’s interest with five assists and a goal in 10 appearances so far this season. Vanderson has also drawn their intrigue with three assists and a goal over eight matches. Kayode, however, is so far yet to influence a single goal this term after five outings.

Liverpool are following Omar Marmoush as a likely replacement for Darwin Nunez

Scouts working for Liverpool are tracking Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush with the Reds now considering replacing Darwin Nunez next summer. That is according to David Lynch, who reports that the Merseyside natives are ‘100%’ keeping tabs on the 25-year-old.

Liverpool have not decided convincingly to target Marmoush’s transfer in 2025 but are keen to monitor his performances in case Nunez does not deliver. The Reds could also likely need to sell Nunez before bringing in a replacement for the 25-year-old who cost Liverpool £64m.

Nunez has only featured seven times so far this season for 307 minutes after three starts in all competitions. He has further only scored one and assisted one goal, whereas Marmoush has made light work of scoring nine goals and assisting six across his first nine appearances.

Wayne Rooney names Liverpool as his Premier League surprise of the season so far

Wayne Rooney has shocked Gary Neville after naming Liverpool as the Premier League team he has been the most surprised by so far in the 2024/25 season. The Plymouth Argyle gaffer selected the Reds as he feels they look ‘more solid’ since Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp.

Slot arrived at Anfield this summer after Klopp – who has now agreed to become the global head of soccer for Red Bull – chose to walk away from his contract with Liverpool early. The German bowed out with the Reds third in the table, yet Slot has them at the top of the tree.

Liverpool leading the Premier League table after seven games as the only team to win six so far plus boasting the best defence convinces Rooney that they have been the surprise of the season so far. The Reds have allowed just two goals to pip Arsenal in second place with six.

“I’d go Liverpool, me,” Rooney told The Overlap, to which Neville responded: “Liverpool?!”

Plymouth boss Rooney continued: “Yeah. I think with the manager coming in after Klopp, that was obviously big pressure and they look more solid. I think they’ve got a good solid base and the manager comes across well.”
