First picture of Giorgi Mamardashvili in Liverpool kit emerges as move looks set to be completed

Liverpool look all set to complete their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Remarkably, the Reds have managed to make it just a handful of days before the market closes before adding a new face.

But with Liverpool supporters holding on patiently and Arne Slot making a good start to life at the club on the pitch, the wait is almost over.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to join Liverpool from Valencia before spending the rest of the season with his current club.

And although the excitement over the deal is tempered by the fact that Mamardashvili won’t be at Anfield for another year, fans are still eagerly awaiting an official announcement of the transfer.

Despite his signing not improving the Liverpool squad immediately, Mamardashvili still looks like a great bit of business by the Reds.

It is reportedly expected that Mamardashvili will challenge for a spot at Liverpool at the end of the current season.

The Reds clearly think the 23-year-old can be a very good goalkeeper or they would not have spent such a hefty fee on him.

Regardless of who he is and who he may become, though, supporters are simply glad that having waited almost a year for one, they finally have a new signing to celebrate.

And ahead of the official announcement, Spanish journalist Salva Gomis has shared a photograph of Mamardashvili in this season’s green Liverpool training top.

Looking down at the camera with a grin as wide as the Mersey, the Georgian looks delighted to be wearing his new club’s colours.

“It shouldn’t take long for Mamardashvili’s move to LFC to become official,” says Gomis alongside the snap.

What else has happened on Tuesday?

As we tick towards the end of the transfer window, there is plenty to keep on top of for Liverpool fans.

Talks are ongoing over a move for Federico Chiesa, while there remains the possibility of other deals being done, too.

Liverpool mainly seem to be concerned with outgoings for the time being, with Stefan Bajcetic closing in on a loan move to RB Salzburg.

Tyler Morton could also be one who is soon out of the door for the Reds. Morton is in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal.

Lots to get sorted, then, but it finally looks as though we can breath easy on Mamardashvili. Keep your eyes peeled for that announcement, it can’t be long now!
