Liverpool set to send ‘incredible’ player to join Pep Lijnders on-loan at RB Salzburg

Liverpool are busy finalising their squad for the upcoming season.

The Reds have been keen to let Arne Slot take a look at every player available to him after taking over from Jurgen Klopp this summer.

This has led to a delayed approach in the transfer market, as the new head coach worked out who he wanted in his first-team squad and who might be better moving on.

Having made those decisions, Slot and Liverpool have begun working on solutions for those players not deemed to be needed this season.

With just a few days left in which to sort all of that out, things have now started to ramp up and the exit door at Anfield is getting a fair bit of use.

Stefan Bajcetic set for RB Salzburg loan

Liverpool supporters will be hopeful that along with a few of the outgoings, there will be some incomings as well.

With reports that Liverpool are moving for the likes of Federico Chiesa, that does look like being a possibility.

But for players to come in, some may need to move out to ensure the squad is not overly bloated.

That has already started to happen, with Owen Beck set to join Blackburn Rovers and Tyler Morton in talks with Bayer Leverkusen.

Another player who Liverpool had decided to loan out is Stefan Bajcetic. Bajcetic is a huge talent but has been beset by injury issues over the past 18 months.

As a result, the 19-year-old needs game time. And now, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, he looks set to get it with former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders.

“RB Salzburg in advanced talks to sign Stefan Bajcetic on loan from Liverpool,” says Romano.

“Negotiations at final stages with details to be clarified but already underway, as Pep Lijnders wants Stefan. Clubs in Spain also wanted him but RB Salzburg are now close.”

Will Liverpool sign a midfielder?

While this is not a major surprise, it will leave questions from Liverpool supporters regarding squad depth in midfield.

Without a new signing coming in and with both Bajcetic and Morton on the move, the Reds suddenly look a little shorn.

Although neither would be regular starters this season, both youngsters could help alleviate the pressure, especially if Liverpool pick up injuries. Klopp deemed Bajcetic to be ‘incredible‘ and the Spaniard especially looked like a genuine option.

One theory could be that Slot is allowing both players to leave as Liverpool do indeed have a midfield signing coming in.

However, we think the head coach is simply backing the players he has to do the job. Don’t expect too much movement. All the best to Stefan in what looks like an exciting move for him.
