Liverpool supporters are growing increasingly frustrated at the lack of transfer activity this summer.
The Reds remains the only club in Europe’s top five leagues not to make a signing since the end of last season.
While the Liverpool squad remains strong and some players could go up a level under the tutelage of Arne Slot, that is a risky game to play.
With exactly two weeks left in the transfer window, Liverpool still have time to give themselves a better chance of success this season.
Thankfully, it does sound like the Reds are working on something. However, punters at Anfield may not feel the benefit of it for several years.

Liverpool copying Thibaut Courtois decision
What Liverpool need to ensure they are stronger than last season is not up for too much debate amongst fans. It’s clear that a top defensive midfielder could be the missing ingredient.
Nevertheless, it does not look especially likely that they’ll get it. With Martin Zubimendi saying no, it seems that Tyler Morton is set to stay and potentially get game time instead.
Instead, Liverpool’s first signing of the Slot era looks probable to be a new goalkeeper. Surprisingly, Liverpool are in talks to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.
Mamardashvili would be signed and then loaned out, meaning Alisson Becker’s long-term future is in doubt. For now, though, Alisson is going nowhere.
And speaking exclusively to Rousing The Kop, journalist Graeme Bailey says Liverpool’s plan with £34m-rated Mamardashvili is set to be similar to what Chelsea did with Thibaut Courtois way back in 2011.

“It’s an interesting take what Liverpool are doing, looking one or two years – maybe even three – into the future” says Bailey. “It’s reminiscent of what Chelsea did when they bought Thibaut Courtois.
“It’s a fascinating situation. Alisson is still the number one, and he is only 31-years-old. He could have another four or five years there,” he adds. “But they’re trying to get Mamardashvili.
“He’s willing to do this deal where he would go somewhere else on loan. However, he can’t go directly on loan to another Premier League club due to Premier League rules.
“In theory, what could happen there is he would technically be loaned by Valencia to someone like Bournemouth. Nottingham Forest are also interested. Liverpool would like him to get Premier League experience, if possible.”
What happened to Thibaut Courtois?
Liverpool fans need no introduction to Thibaut Courtois. The Real Madrid ‘keeper stopped the Reds from winning the Champions League virtually single-handedly in 2022.
11 years before that, though, the 32-year-old had been a promising young goalie signed by Chelsea from Belgian side Genk.
Having joined the Blues, Courtois was then immediately loaned to Atletico Madrid for three full seasons.
In Madrid, the Belgian developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world. After winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Europa League, Super Cup and even playing in a Champions League final, Courtois came back primed to be number one at Chelsea.
It was a patient plan that worked out very well indeed for the West London club. If Liverpool can repeat that with Mamardashvili while also keeping Alisson for a little longer, then we’re all for it.
