Liverpool’s plans for the summer transfer window are starting to become more clear as deadline day draws nearer.
There are now just over two weeks to go until the Reds are no longer able to sign new players.
So far, Liverpool have not spent the time available to strengthen their first-team squad especially wisely. The Reds yet to make a single new addition.
They have tried, in fairness, with Martin Zubimendi back-tracking after agreeing to join Liverpool.
Since then, the Reds have seemingly gone back into the Spanish market and are trying to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili. However, the move could be bad news for one Liverpool player’s future.

Alisson’s Liverpool future in doubt
Earlier in the summer, goalkeeper had looked like it might be a position which would need some major work for Liverpool.
Caoimhin Kelleher seemed likely to leave, while Alisson Becker was continuously linked with an exit to Saudi Arabia.
With just over two weeks left to go in the window, though, both goalkeepers are still with Liverpool. No movement seems to be imminent over either.
And although it has been claimed that Alisson will not leave Liverpool if Mamardashvili joins, it has now been reported that a long-term future at Anfield is far from certain for the Brazilian.
Reports on Wednesday have claimed that Liverpool have a 10-year plan for Mamardashvili to become their starting goalkeeper in the seasons to come.

And according to The Times, the Reds are now ‘stepping up’ their efforts to sign the Georgian from Valencia. It’s claimed that Liverpool see his likely £30m price-tag as being ‘excellent value.’
Despite that, Mamardashvili would reportedly not join the Reds straight away. Instead, Alisson is said to be unequivocally Arne Slot’s No.1 for the upcoming campaign.
As a result, Liverpool are said to be ‘exploring options’ for Mamardashvili to go on-loan if he does join. A stay at Valencia is said to be a possibility, as is the chance of temporarily joining another club.
Although this would not impact on Alisson being first choice for 2024/25, it’s claimed that the 31-year-old’s future would be ‘in doubt’ beyond the end of the campaign.
Liverpool planning for life after Alisson
In our opinion, this news will absolutely take the sheen of the possibility of Liverpool signing Mamardashvili. Alisson has been a ‘phenomenal’ goalie for the Reds. To lose him would hurt horribly.
Mamardashvili looks like a good ‘keeper – and probably is fine value for £30m – but a clear signal that the end is coming for Alisson at Anfield would not be well received by the fanbase.
If the Brazil international were three our four years older, then perhaps it wouldn’t sting so much.
But Alisson will only turn 32 in October. He is still very much in his peak, or even yet to enter it, as a goalkeeper. Liverpool may be robbed of some of his best years.
To go in for Mamardashvili now would suggest that there has been a conversation between the Reds and their goalkeeper. And that is a sad thought to contemplate.
