Liverpool are continuing their efforts to make the best possible additions this summer.
The Reds have taken a careful and considerate approach to the transfer market this summer, preferring to watch and wait for now.
With Arne Slot needing some time to assess the Liverpool squad he has taken over, it has made sense for the Reds not to rush into anything.
Now that Slot has seen several weeks of training and a couple of full matches, we should expect that Liverpool will start to make some moves soon.
And with the Reds owners notoriously keen to find themselves a bargain, it still looks possible that they’ll find an unlikely one after all.

Liverpool still keen on Federico Chiesa
It was claimed at the start of May that Liverpool are looking to sign a new forward this summer.
Almost three months on and that is still yet to materialise. Talks have resumed to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, but whether that gets over the line is currently difficult to say.
Besides, Gordon was offered to Liverpool at £85m initially. As good as the former Everton man is, that’s a huge amount to pay for a player with less than two years left on his contract.
The Reds already well-stocked with big money players, too. As a result, it may be that any addition could be more of a supplementary one. Think Xherdan Shaqiri level.

According to Caught Offside, this looks like it could potentially be Liverpool’s plan. They claim that Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa ‘remains a player of huge interest’ to the Reds.
Chiesa has been linked to Liverpool for years. But with just one year left on his contract, the Italian could reportedly now be signed for as low as £17m.
That’s a far cry from the big-money bid the Reds made for him in 2021. Liverpool reportedly offered £85m to sign Chiesa, which was ultimately turned down. Now, though, the landscape is very different.
Chiesa is said to be in talks with Juve offer a contract extension, but is claimed to be aware of interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham and is waiting to see how it plays out before committing to his current club.
Is Federico Chiesa move likely?
Had this been two years ago perhaps, we could easily have seen Liverpool being right in the mix to sign Chiesa on the cheap.
However, in 2024, the Juventus man is not quite the player he was. Injuries have taken their toll a little, while at 26 he is perhaps a little older than Liverpool usually prefer their signings to be.
Nevertheless, at this kind of price, Chiesa could still be smart addition. Despite his injuries, pundit Micah Richards says Chiesa has ‘pace to burn‘ and he had a decent season with Juve.
The 26-year-old is good off either foot and could act as an excellent rotational option for Slot.
Still, simply because of the wages that Chiesa would ask for – as well as his age and injury record – we just can’t see this one happening.
