Liverpool are still yet to make their first concrete move of the summer transfer window.
The Reds could do with putting some additional touches to the squad that came up short in the Premier League last season.
However, with Arne Slot having just arrived and some big changes happening in the Liverpool recruitment team, nothing has been accomplished.
That does not mean that discussions are not ongoing at Anfield, though. The Reds are quiet and often smart workers in the transfer market and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
Although there are certainly options out there that could improve the Liverpool squad, that does not mean that Slot, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards will go for every one.

Liverpool turned down Anthony Gordon for £85m
One of the areas that Liverpool could potentially do with upgrading on is in their attack. Slot has a few top-class options but the Reds were wasteful in-front of goal last year.
As a result, Liverpool have been linked with bringing in another forward player.
Some of these potential signings have been making waves at Euro 2024 this summer. Nico Williams has been strongly linked with Liverpool after impressing for finalists Spain.
Other attackers at the tournament are also reportedly on the Reds’ list, too. Baris Alper Yilmaz is claimed to be on Liverpool’s radar after making a strong impression with Turkey.
Finally, the strongest links of all have to come to a player who has played just a handful of minutes out in Germany: Anthony Gordon. Gordon was close to joining Liverpool after being in talks over a move from Newcastle.

With Newcastle in danger of breaching PSR rules at the end of June, Give Me Sport have now confirmed that Gordon was offered to Liverpool and not the other way around.
‘Sources close to Liverpool’ are reportedly insistent that they were given the chance to sign the 23-year-old for £85m last month, despite Newcastle sources being adamant that this was not the case.
Although the Reds are said to have noted that the offer was cheaper than the £100m they had expected Gordon to cost, it was still too much to consider.
Liverpool are claimed to remain ‘admirers’ of the England international, who is reportedly ‘keen’ on the move. However, nothing will supposedly progress on Liverpool’s end until the asking-price drops ‘significantly.’
Liverpool should wait for Anthony Gordon move
Fan were getting excited at the prospect of Liverpool fan Gordon returning to the club he left as a very young boy.
However, you can understand why the Reds chose not to move forward with a deal.
Given his form for Newcastle, his age, potential and status as an England international, £85m is arguably a fair price for the Magpies to ask for. Eddie Howe has called Gordon ‘unbelievable‘ after all.
But from a Liverpool perspective, they are well stocked on the left-hand side. They may want another player there, but not for a record fee.
There is sense in waiting this out for Liverpool, too. Gordon has just two years left on his contract on Tyneside. Wait a year and not only will the Reds be more likely to need a left winger, the Scouser will surely also be markedly cheaper.
The price may still be high, but Liverpool clearly have something in mind with Gordon.
