Liverpool are seemingly beginning to ramp up their efforts to build the first post-Jurgen Klopp playing squad.

With new appointments being tied up off the pitch in recent days, talk is starting to turn to who could be brought in on it. The last days have seen reports of interest in the likes of Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

And now, Spanish outlet AS have claimed that the Reds are all set to come back in for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

The claim that having already previously tried to sign Bruno, Liverpool are ‘expected’ to make another attempt to do so during the summer.

They’re far from being the only ones interested, though. Manchester City are actually suggested to be the club most keen on snatching the Brazilian from St James’ Park, while Manchester United and Chelsea are also named as other potential suitors.

Any team hoping to sign Bruno will reportedly have to pay the £100m release clause in his contract.

Liverpool trying again for Bruno

Liverpool have been linked with a potential move for Bruno for quite some time now. Last summer, it was even claimed that the Reds made a last-ditch offer to Newcastle for his services.

Even after that, it has since been reported that Liverpool have already been in contact with Bruno over a move to Anfield.

With the press also full of reports that the 26-year-old is keen to leave Newcastle this summer, it does seem likely that he’ll be off at the end of the season.

Clearly, that would be a massive blow to the Magpies. Bruno has been one of their key players ever since arriving from Lyon in January 2022. He’s crucial to them.

However, with Newcastle unlikely to qualify for any European competition next season, they need to recoup some money.

Selling one of their top players is really the only way of doing that. Although we’d perhaps prefer Jamie Carragher’s favourite, Alexander Isak, Bruno is probably their most valuable asset.

So, there seems to be a pretty good chance that one of the Premier League big boys will get their way and sign the former Lyon man this summer.

From our point of view, £100m will be far beyond what Liverpool will want to pay for Bruno. But they’ve clearly had their eye on him for a long time. Perhaps now is finally the moment to pull the trigger.
