As the end of the season draws closer, Liverpool are beginning to be linked with summer additions.
With Michael Edwards now in place and Richard Hughes set to follow him as new sporting director, Liverpool’s structure is starting to take shape. Plans can perhaps tentatively be formulate despite a question mark over who will be in the dugout.
With that in mind, the Reds are being linked with some possible new additions. Omar Marmoush is one who has been mentioned this week, and he would represent an interesting forward option.
This summer feels more likely to be about addressing Liverpool’s defence, though. To that end, Algerian outlet La Gazette Du Fennec have reported that the Reds are ‘determined’ to land Wolves full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Ait-Nouri is reportedly attracting the interest of Manchester’s City and United and Chelsea, as well as Liverpool. But according to what the outlet calls ‘a source close to the player,’ Liverpool have made the most ‘serious’ contact with the player so far.
Given the interest of four big Premier League sides, it’s claimed that things could now ‘accelerate very quickly’ in the case of Ait-Nouri.
Liverpool targeting Ait-Nouri
Liverpool have been rumoured to be interested in Ait-Nouri for some time. There’s clearly something in these reports.
However, we just don’t see how recruiting a new left-back is currently a priority for Liverpool.
Andy Robertson is still in good nick and has only just turned 30, while Kostas Tsimikas is as good a back-up as you’re ever likely to find.
It’s true that in the long-term it may need to be looked at, but for at least next season you’d imagine that Liverpool are fine.

Playing devil’s advocate though, if the Reds were to be on the lookout for a successor to Robertson, then Ait-Nouri would be a fine option.
Still just 22, the Algeria international has already played 89 Premier League games across four seasons for Wolves. This season, he has gone up another level, even scoring in last Saturday’s win over Fulham.
With Liverpool also reportedly targeting Ait-Nouri’s Wolves teammate Pedro Neto, it’s worth Reds fans keeping an eye on goings on at Molineux between now and the end of the season.
Again, we wouldn’t put a player like the Algerian at the top of the list for the summer, but it sounds like Liverpool might disagree with that.
