Liverpool may well need to do a little tweaking to their forward line this summer.
The Reds have done well with five top quality options in attack this season. All five have contributed in a big way, spearheading an unlikely quadruple push.
But beyond this campaign, question marks are starting to appear. Mohamed Salah’s future has long been in doubt, with an offer from Saudi Arabia reportedly likely to come again soon. Meanwhile, rumours have started to surface that Luis Diaz is a wanted man, too.
If Liverpool were to lose both Salah and Diaz, or even just one of them, they’d certainly need replacing. And with that in mind, German outlet BILD have reported that the Reds are ‘thinking about’ making a move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush.
Marmoush has been in great form this season, which is claimed to have put him firmly on Liverpool’s radar. Arsenal are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old, who reportedly ‘dreams of England.’
Eintracht are said to be aware of Marmoush’s interest in moving to the Premier League, and have reportedly slapped an initial price-tag of around £43m on the Egyptian.
Liverpool targeting Marmoush
With Michael Edwards now back and set to be the driving force behind Liverpool’s recruitment, you can see Marmoush as being the kind of player he’d target.
Not a superstar by any means, but a player getting better and better year on year. Within budget and a good age, Marmoush ticks a lot of the boxes that led Edwards to his compatriot Salah in 2017.
The former Wolfsburg player also shares some stylistic similarities to Liverpool’s No.11. Chiefly, he’s quick. Really quick.
This was pointed out by Eintracht manager Dino Topmoller in October, who was quoted praising his player’s ‘blistering pace’ by Egyptian outlet King FUT.

“Omar is a fantastic boy who always gives maximum effort in addition to his blistering pace,” Topmoller raved. “I’m very impressed with his development in the final third, as he’s now a lot more calmer on the ball, he’s really good at runs from behind as well.
“He’s really taken a huge step in his development, especially with the way he’s played in the past few games.”
Since then, Marmoush has continued to impress. With 15 goals and six assists in 32 games for Eintracht this season, the Egypt international is having the season of his life.
It would obviously be a big jump up for him to make an impact at Liverpool. But if Salah sticks around, he could take the younger man under his wing. If not, then maybe the Reds will go from an Egyptian King to an Egyptian Prince.
