With Donyell Malen on his way to Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool must have big plans for a new incoming.
The PSV striker is on the verge of a move to Germany.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that negotiations between the two sides are in the final stages. Personal terms have also been agreed, with a medical expected in the coming days.
According to reliable German football journalist Patrick Berger (not that one), Dortmund will pay €30m (£26m) for the Dutchman.
This comes after Liverpool had been heavily linked with signing Malen themselves.
For a long period, it appeared that it was a two-horse race to get their hands on the talented young striker.
However, the Reds have decided against pushing hard for the ex-Arsenal youngster.
This leads us to believe that they will make a surprise signing that will delight fans before the summer is out.
Malen to Dortmund eliminates primary target – must have something else lined up

We know that Liverpool are on the market for a forward, as well as a midfielder.
While numerous names have been linked in regards to the midfield signing, there is not much news about a forward.
Dusan Vlahovic and Raphinha were linked earlier in the window, but rumours have since died down.
Jarrod Bowen’s name has been bandied about recently, but we do not see Liverpool moving for him.
Malen is the only one that has been linked consistently. But now he is out of the equation.
So, we think that we could see a repeat of what happened last summer.
Despite numerous names being linked to the club, Liverpool went and signed Diogo Jota out of nowhere.
There had been practically no links between the two parties until the day before he was signed.
It was a prime example of the Reds keeping their cards close to their chest.
The same could happen this summer.
Do not be surprised if you hear rumours of Liverpool interest in a new target and 24 hours later he is revealed as the club’s newest signing.
