Liverpool travel to Aston Villa hoping to continue a fine start to the Premier League season.
The Reds rested many of the first team during Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal. One particular fringe player impressed and may have forced themselves into the team facing Villa this weekend.
Jurgen Klopp will, for the most part, re-install his well-rested key men ahead of a must-win match.

Goalkeeper – Alisson Becker
The Liverpool number one returns after a rest in mid-week. Caoimhin Kelleher stepped in and was the hero at Anfield against Arsenal.
Right back – Trent Alexander-Arnold
The 21-year-old full back is set to make his 100th Liverpool appearance when the Reds travel to Aston Villa.
Centre back – Dejan Lovren
Dejan Lovren should continue in place of the injured Joel Matip. Despite struggling against Tottenham last week, he will likely start as Joe Gomez is nowhere near his best right now.
Centre back – Virgil Van Dijk
Our captain without the armband is more important than ever. A mini-crisis in defence must be managed by the Dutch defender until Matip returns.
Left back – Andy Robertson
Andy Robertson had a well-earned rest in the mid-week. He’ll return to the side and cause Villa all kinds of problems down the left flank.
Defensive midfield – Fabinho
The Brazilian is becoming one of the first names on the team sheet. He’ll once again start in the Liverpool midfield.
Centre midfield – Jordan Henderson
Liverpool’s captain scored a rare goal that helped us pick up a win last weekend. The 29-year-old will hope to lead the side to victory once more against Aston Villa
Centre midfield – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The Liverpool midfielder is becoming undeniable. Oxlade-Chamberlain has earned his place in the Reds’ midfield trio and should replace the out-of-form Gini Wijnaldum.
Right wing – Mo Salah
Mo Salah scored the all-important goal to complete Liverpool fight back against Spurs. He’ll be hoping to add another to his tally this weekend.
Left wing – Sadio Mane
Sadio Mane was rested in the week one pundit claimed he carries this Liverpool side. A vital player for Klopp, he’ll be raring to go against Villa.
Striker – Roberto Firmino
The man who brings everything together for Liverpool. Firmino will start at the top of the pitch as he always does.
