Liverpool and Mohamed Salah agreed to part ways when Arne Slot was still in charge.

The Dutchman was called out by Salah in the first half of the 2025/26 season after a 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Liverpool’s star winger returned to the side but still decided to confirm he would be leaving for free at the end of this past season, a decision fans may have hoped would be reversed after Slot was sacked. However, that is not happening.

No chance Mohamed Salah stays at Liverpool despite Arne Slot sacking

In a transfer report from The Athletic, the question ‘With a new manager in place, is there any world in which Liverpool U-turn on Salah?’ was asked.

However, it is said that despite Andoni Iraola stepping in to replace Slot, there are no plans for the winger to remain on Merseyside for another year.

It was explained: “No chance. Salah got the Anfield send-off he deserved at the end of the season after nearly nine years of outstanding service.

“All parties felt that it was the right time to go their separate ways, with Salah having initiated the talks that led to Liverpool agreeing to effectively rip up the final year of his contract in March.”

How will Liverpool replace Mohamed Salah?

That news will likely come as a blow to many Liverpool fans, but the search is now on for a replacement.

Yan Diomande seems the most likely option to arrive at Anfield over the coming months.

He impressed with RB Leipzig last summer, and has enjoyed a great start to the World Cup with the Ivory Coast.

Elsewhere, if Diomande is not signed, Bradley Barcola keeps being linked, though it seems like PSG are waiting to sign a new forward before they let the Frenchman go.
