Liverpool have been trying to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande for some time now.

With Mohamed Salah gone, the Reds are in serious need of reinforcements on their right wing this summer.

On that front, a pre-World Cup move for Diomande was played down, but Liverpool have now offered the player ‘important’ money.

Liverpool offering Yan Diomande ‘important’ money

Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the future of the winger this week, ahead of him representing the Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup.

PSG are linked to Diomande, and Romano did mention that they remain keen on the forward’s services.

However, the Ligue 1 giants completing a deal would likely rely on sales elsewhere, whereas Liverpool have already offered money to the player.

Speaking via The Here We Go Podcast, the journalist explained: “It’s difficult to find players who can be young, talented, 1v1, fast, score, deliver, assist. It’s very difficult. And he’s wanted by Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

“Both clubs are still in the mix. Liverpool are really pushing. Liverpool are really insisting to make it happen.

“So for Liverpool, it’s a top, top priority. They are offering important money to the player to get it done.

“On the other side, Paris Saint-Germain are also keen, but depends on what happens with Barcola, with Goncalo Ramos, with Kang-In Lee.

“There are players who have to leave Paris Saint-Germain, while at the same time, Liverpool already made some space with Mo Salah leaving and more players. So at the moment, the understanding is that Liverpool are really pushing, but Paris Saint-Germain are still there in the background. So let’s wait and see, but for sure it’s going to be eventually a very expensive transfer because Leipzig want to keep the player one more season.”

If Liverpool do end up missing out on Diomande, then the aforementioned Bradley Barcola could be their alternative winger signing this summer.

Barcola has been linked for a while, and PSG signing the RB Leipzig attacker over the Reds could open the door for the Frenchman to move to Anfield instead.

He would not be a direct Salah replacement, though, as he is primarily used as a left-winger.

But with talk about Cody Gakpo leaving emerging in the last week, the Merseyside outfit may well decide to replace the Dutchman with Barcola.
