Bradley Barcola has been mooted to make a move to Liverpool for some time now.
The Merseyside outfit will need to strengthen their flanks this summer now that Mohamed Salah is leaving.
There is also talk about a Cody Gakpo exit, so signing Barcola would make sense. On that front, the door could be open for PSG to sanction a sale now they have identified Ferran Torres as a viable replacement.
Barcola vs Diomande! Which Liverpool transfer target are you most excited to watch at the World Cup?
PSG could replace Liverpool target Bradley Barcola with Ferran Torres
The Ligue 1 powerhouse were previously among the suitors for Anthony Gordon, who has since joined Newcastle United.
PSG are also linked to Yan Diomande, but them signing Torres instead could be good news for the Reds on two fronts.
Firstly, it may see them cool interest in Diomande and allow Liverpool to get a deal over the line in the coming months.
It could also allow them to move on another of the Reds’ summer attacking targets, Barcola.
Gianluca Di Marzio provided the update on PSG’s interest in Torres, stating: “Paris Saint-Germain is considering Ferran Torres if they need to leave in attack. Barcola is a possible departure in the attacking department, and so the Parisian club has identified the Spanish striker with great interest.
“His contract with Barcelona expires in 2027. Ferran has already worked with Luis Enrique for the Spanish national team.”
It remains to be seen when or if Liverpool are going to make an offer for Barcola.
It has been widely covered that the Frenchman was a target last summer, but those in a position of power at Anfield feared he could block the pathway of Rio Ngumoha.
But should Gakpo leave Liverpool this summer, that would free up a space for Barcola to come in and compete alongside the teenager.
Alternatively, the Dutch forward could be used as a striker more frequently, given that Hugo Ekitike is out with a long-term injury.
