Luis Diaz sell-on clause mooted as Liverpool exit could be finalised imminently

Luis Diaz’s exit from Liverpool has been one of the most talked-about moves in the summer transfer window.

The attacker has made it more than clear that he wants to exit Anfield this summer with his move to Barcelona now dead in the water.

Bayern Munich are the last team vying for Diaz’s services, and unless the Bundesliga outfit and Liverpool can come to an agreement soon, the Colombian could end up staying put.

Arne Slot has been adamant since the start that he doesn’t want to lose the attacker, but if an offer that is too good to refuse is put on the table, then Liverpool will accept his exit.

Bayern Munich could add a sell-on clause in the Luis Diaz deal

The main problem that Bayern and Liverpool are facing with the transfer of Diaz is that their valuations are miles apart.

Vincent Kompany’s men have already had two offers turned down this summer and, at the moment, they’re supposedly readying their next bid.

And, as per a fresh report from German outlet Bild, it seems like ‘various models’ of the deal are being discussed.

One option that is on the table is that a ‘sell-on clause’ could be included to allow Liverpool to benefit if he’s sold to a team in the Saudi Pro League in the future.

This would then allow Liverpool to ‘participate’ and earn even more money from the transfer of the 28-year-old.

Bild then round off their report by stating that the Bundesliga outfit are now ‘optimistic’ that a deal can be completed in the next ‘7-10 days.’

Liverpool should sell Luis Diaz if they get £70million and a sell-on clause for his transfer

Although Diaz was arguably Liverpool’s second-best attacker last season, a fee in the region of £70million and a sell-on clause on top of that would be far too good a deal for the Reds to turn down.

There are several options for Diaz’s replacement on the market at the moment, and £70million would likely more than cover any moves that Slot would want to make.

And, since the Colombian is set to be offered a four-year deal by Bayern, the sell-on clause in the deal could prove vital as, even if he’s past his best in three years, it’s likely that a Saudi Arabian club could still put in a huge bid for him.

Indeed, the Reds would be much better off if one of the Saudi Pro League teams put in a bid for him this summer, but with Diaz’s heart set on staying in Europe, it feels unlikely that he’d make that move at the moment.

Only time will tell what the future has in store, but on the face of things, it sounds like an agreement for Diaz’s exit is edging ever-closer.

That is, even if Diaz was described as a “wonderful” player by Danny Murphy due to his “under the radar” performances last term.
