Liverpool are now looking for ways to recoup some of the money they’ve spent in the transfer window.

They’ve already spent close to £200million on improving their ranks this summer and unless they make some sales soon, they could find themselves in a spot of bother.

The Premier League have some strict PSR rules that all teams need to abide by, and while the Reds are well below the threshold, some sales will still need to be made.

Players such as Darwin Nunez have been consistently linked with an Anfield exit, but at the moment, it’s unclear who’s likely to be sold on.

Bayern Munich are now ‘certain’ that they can sign Luis Diaz this summer

At the moment, Luis Diaz feels like the most likely of Arne Slot’s first-team squad to be moved on.

The attacker has had plenty of interest shown in him this summer with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich making offers to acquire his services.

And now, while speaking to Caught Offside, Bayern insider, Christian Falk, has shared an update on Vincent Kompany’s pursuit of the Colombian.

“Bayern Munich are increasingly certain that they will sign Luis Diaz in the end,” he said.

“Now, it’s just a question of money between the Bundesliga champions and Liverpool. The Bavarians already had two offers turned away; the first being €52m [£43.3m] and the second being €67.5m [£58.5m].

“But now, Bayern are in negotiations directly with the Reds. They want to find a way to get the deal over the line; they don’t want to have to make another offer, which could be rejected – they’re determined to find a solution.

“FC Bayern are completely clear with the player: they want to give Diaz a four-year contract earning €14m [£12.1m] gross per year. I’ve heard that he’s only earning €2.7m [£2.3m] net at Liverpool – so it’s much, much lower than what he could be earning in Munich.

“This is one of the reasons why he wants to join Bayern Munich, as he feels he would be better appreciated. As we know, appreciation for footballers is at least partly always tied to money.”

Liverpool need to be careful with who they sell Luis Diaz to

Although the £86million that Liverpool are looking for to get rid of Diaz this summer would help boost their finances massively, they’d be helping improve one of their rivals for the Champions League.

Last season, Bayern got back to winning ways as they managed to win the Bundesliga title, earning Harry Kane the first major trophy of his career.

And, even though players such as Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller have both left Bavaria this summer, the addition of Diaz would improve their ranks tenfold.

If Liverpool want to make a better name for themselves in the Champions League and perhaps come away with the trophy, they need all the talent and firepower they can get.

So, even though the £86million fee may seem steep, the fact that one of their Champions League rivals could be adding him to their ranks is a slight cause for concern; hence why Liverpool must be careful with who they sell him to this summer.
