Liverpool have been linked with a whole host of players this summer, with Arne Slot looking to strengthen his ranks in any way he can.
At the moment, the likes of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz are the most exciting additions the Dutchman has made; however, that could be about to change.
On Tuesday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool made their first move towards Alexander Isak in order to figure out whether a deal would be possible.
If a deal of this magnitude can be pulled off by Slot and Richard Hughes this summer, it would be a massive statement of intent on their behalf.

However, Isak isn’t the only number nine who has been linked with an Anfield switch this summer.
Simon Jordan believes Frankfurt’s asking price for Hugo Ekitike is far too high
As mentioned, Liverpool have been on the lookout for a new striker since the summer transfer window first opened.
Isak has always been their number one target, but over the last couple of weeks, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike has also entered the frame.
And, speaking live on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan gave his thoughts on the price tag that the Bundesliga outfit have set for their star man.
“They’ve [Newcastle] lost Calum Wilson, haven’t they,” he said.
“So, whether they can convince [Newcastle to spend] the money that they’re [Frankfurt] asking for for this kid, I mean, he didn’t hit the ground running at PSG, did he.
“He’s gone to Frankfurt, he’s played 30-40 games and all of a sudden he’s a £90million footballer.
“The world’s gone mad.”
Liverpool can’t go out and spend over £80million on Hugo Ekitike
Although Ekitike may fit into Slot’s style of play perfectly, the fee that Frankfurt are asking for is far too steep, that is, even if he has been described as the “perfect centre-forward” before.
The 2024-25 season was the first time that the Frenchman managed to score over 10 goals in a season, with his time at PSG less than memorable.
He also only became as important to the Bundesliga outfit as he is in the second half of the season, as Omar Marmoush chose to pack his bags and move to Manchester City.
And, now that Newcastle have entered into talks with Ekitike, it feels like the stars could be aligning for Liverpool to swoop in and prise Isak away from St James’ Park, which, at the end of the day, is exactly what Slot would have been hoping for.
