Liverpool have already welcomed the likes of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez through the Anfield doors this season.
The 2025-26 summer transfer window has been a bit of a different one for the Reds as they’ve actually chosen to invest in their first-team squad before selling any of their players beforehand.
In fact, they even broke their club-record fee for Wirtz with the young German getting brought in for a fee worth around £116million.

And, although Liverpool have spent close to £200million on new players already, it doesn’t feel like they’re slowing down any time soon.
BBC journalist believes Arne Slot will target a new defender and striker for Liverpool this summer
Several names have been linked with an Anfield switch over the last couple of weeks, with Liverpool seemingly throwing their hat in the ring for as many players as possible.
However, as per a fresh report from BBC Sport journalist Phil McNulty, it seems like Arne Slot is targeting a new centre-back and striker this summer, but only if they can raise the cash they need to.
“It has been outstanding so far [Liverpool’s transfer business],” he wrote via the BBC Sport website.
“No, I don’t think it will come back to bite them [making all these changes at once] because all the signings so far have been with an obvious purpose in mind.
“Jeremie Frimpong was signed to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, Milos Kerkez to provide competition for Andy Robertson, who is now 31, and Florian Wirtz because he is simply an outstanding player who was wanted by some of Europe’s top clubs.
“There may be further additions, perhaps in central defence and at striker, depending on departures, but Liverpool did need strengthening even though they won the title. They are going about it in a structured way.”

Liverpool should throw everything into Marc Guehi and Viktor Gyokeres this summer
As mentioned, several players have recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.
One of the main names which keeps cropping up is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
The Swede has been dubbed Liverpool’s dream target, but with the Magpies wanting around £200million to prise him away from St James’ Park, that move feels unlikely.
However, a move for his fellow countryman, Viktor Gyokeres, could well be on the cards.
Arsenal and Manchester United have been consistently linked with a move for the striker, but with Liverpool’s need for a new number nine increasing, they could make a move, especially due to his release clause now being active.

Marc Guehi is another potential target that has been linked with Liverpool this summer.
The centre-back only has a year left on his current contract with Crystal Palace, and if the Reds can get him for the right price, he’d be an impressive coup, especially with the amount of Premier League experience he has.
Of course, these are all just rumours for now, but if Slot wants a new striker and centre-back this summer, Gyokeres and Guehi could be his men.
