After two relatively quiet windows for Liverpool, FSG could provide a statement signing this summer.
The Reds decided against signing anyone in January, with the contract situation of Mohamed Salah perhaps deterring the club from making any big moves.
That hasn’t stopped Liverpool from being linked with a whole host of names, however, with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak attracting interest from the Reds.
Any move for the Swedish forward would be pricey though, with Newcastle wanting £150m for Isak – a fee Liverpool are unlikely to offer.
With that being said, Arne Slot’s side may be better off turning their attention to another attacking target – namely Hugo Ekitike.

Hugo Ekitike could be perfect Alexander Isak alternative for Liverpool
With the Isak move likely to be too expensive for FSG, there wouldn’t be much better alternatives for Liverpool this summer than to sign Ekitike.
Recent reports have claimed the Reds are keen on Ekitike, with Premier League title rivals Arsenal also said to be interested in the Frenchman’s services.
Strong, quick and clever on the ball – the Eintracht Frankfurt star profiles very similar to Isak and could potentially be a much cheaper option for the Reds.

Despite being three years Isak’s junior, Ekitike has racked up very similar attacking numbers this season, currently sat just one goal contribution behind the Newcastle man.

Liverpool could save £80m with Ekitike deal
German outlet BILD recently claimed that Frankfurt are looking to make the Frenchman their next big sale, with the Europa League side looking for a fee in the region of €80 million (£66.2m).
That fee will be a much more attractive sum to the Liverpool hierarchy compared to the hefty £150m quoted for Isak – the Reds however will have competition with the Gunners also looking to revamp their forward line.
Labelled as ‘phenomenal’ by Ben Mattinson, Liverpool would be wise to pounce on the deal this summer, otherwise, the realistic fee touted could soon skyrocket if other clubs get involved.
Frankfurt have a strong record of producing top attackers, shown by the likes of Omar Marmoush and Randal Kolo Muani – could Ekitike be the next? Liverpool fans will be keen to find out.
