After a quiet January window, Liverpool are set for a busy summer on the transfer front.

Mohamed Salah’s contract situation has meant that the Reds have had to put plans in place if the Egyptian does leave Merseyside this summer.

This has seen the club linked with a whole host of attackers including EURO 2024 star Inaki Williams, who recently held talks with Liverpool.

Matheus Cunha has also been linked to Liverpool and impressed against Arne Slot’s side in Wolves’ recent defeat at Anfield.

The list of attacking targets hasn’t stopped there, however, with the Reds now in the ‘running’ to sign of one of the Bundesliga’s best.

Liverpool planning move to sign Hugo Ekitike

Despite topping the Premier League goalscoring charts so far this season, it seems like Slot wants to further add to his forward line – with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike said to be on the club’s radar.

That is according to Footmercato, who state Liverpool are in the ‘running’ to sign the Frenchman in the summer, with title rivals Arsenal also interested.

Ekitike has been on fire for the German outfit this season, currently sat on 17 goals and six assists at the time of writing.

Able to play anywhere across the frontline, the Reds reportedly ‘appreciate’ the 22-year-old’s attacking profile.

Liverpool have watched Ekitike since 2022

The Reds have had actually had a long-standing interest in the Frenchman, with Liverpool scouting Ekitike back in 2022, while Jurgen Klopp was still at the helm.

Ekitike first caught the interest of Liverpool after breaking through the Reims first team at just 19 years old.

Despite sending scouts to watch the attacker, the Reds would miss out on Ekitike after he decided to join Paris Saint-Germain instead.

The youngster would struggle in the French capital eventually leaving to join Frankfurt in February 2024, since then Ekitike has thrived and become one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous forwards.
