Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool career has not gone to plan since his arrival in 2022.
Nunez moved to Liverpool as part of a £85m deal with Benfica but the Uruguayan striker has not lived up to that massive price tag.
The 25-year-old has gone on to feature 128 times for the Reds, producing 39 goals and 22 assists, but the numbers are not what frustrate fans.
Running offside, poor decision-making in the final third and wasting chances are traits often displayed by Nunez.
Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season and that is a decision the Premier League leaders must make as it could be crucial to the future of the Merseyside club.

Liverpool need to move on from Darwin Nunez this summer
Nunez has some incredible physical traits that could make him an elite striker in Europe. The Uruguay star is rapid, strong and has the height to be dominant in the opposition box, however, Liverpool don’t have time for the 25-year-old’s technical abilities to catch up.
Saudi Arabia showed strong interest in Nunez during the January transfer window and a deal for the striker was closer than many believed.
Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Al-Nassar tabled two offers for Nunez prior to their move for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran – with the last of those proposals believed to be in the region of £62.5m.
Everything on the financial side of the deal was said to be agreed, however, Liverpool did not want to let the 25-year-old leave mid-season without bringing in a backup.
The Reds would have found it hard to sign a suitable replacement during the season or else they would have had to overpay, but that will not be an issue during the summer.
Bringing in £62.5m for Nunez would be brilliant business for Liverpool and that money could be used to complete a £150m transfer ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Newcastle United star Alexander Isak will be on Liverpool’s radar
Should Liverpool move Nunez on this summer, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak will certainly be a player the Reds will look at to replace the Uruguayan star.
Liverpool have been linked to Isak recently and if they move for the Swedish international at the end of the season they will face stiff competition from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG.
Newcastle are currently seeking £150m for Isak but that is likely to drop ahead of the 2024/25 campaign as the Magpies will have time to replace the 25-year-old during the summer.
| Darwin Nunez | Alexander Isak | |
| Games | 32 | 28 |
| Goals | 6 | 19 |
| Assists | 5 | 5 |
Arne Slot described Isak as ‘quality’ following Liverpool’s draw with Newcastle at the start of December, in which the striker scored a stunner.
The Magpies star would be perfect for the Dutch coach’s squad as he can do everything needed from a striker. The Swedish star can score goals himself and has the ability to drop deep to create for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.
A deal for Isak will be hard for Liverpool to pull off this summer but with the sale of Nunez, that task becomes much easier.
