Liverpool make the short trip to Goodison Park to face Everton on Wednesday night.

The fixture will be the last played at the famous home of Everton before the Toffees move to their new stadium at the start of next season.

This is set to increase the emotion within Goodison Park as David Moyes’ team would like three points to put more daylight between themselves and the relegation zone.

Moyes is aware of the gap between Liverpool and Everton at present, so it will be a tough take, especially with the Reds also needing a win to increase their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points.

Both clubs have their fitness issues heading into the game with Arne Slot providing injury updates on Liverpool’s Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold during his press conference on Tuesday.

Despite this, the Dutch coach has been given a boost ahead of the Merseyside Derby as one key player is now available for selection.

Curtis Jones available for selection for Everton clash

Curtis Jones had a big impact in Liverpool’s recent win over Bournemouth and it highlighted how useful the midfielder has been for Slot this season at Anfield.

Many expected the 24-year-old to start at the weekend in the Reds’ FA Cup defeat to Plymouth, however, the English talent did not get on the pitch at any stage.

Liverpool deemed Jones unfit to bring on during the cup game, hoping that the midfield talent would be available for selection for the Reds’ match with Everton.

According to Lewis Steele, Jones will be fit and available for selection in the Merseyside Derby after the Liverpool midfielder felt some discomfort over the last week.

This is a big boost for Slot as the 24-year-old can have a big impact from the bench if Liverpool are struggling to break Everton down.

Jones is unlikely to start for the Reds on Wednesday as Slot luckily has most of his squad to choose from for the trip to Goodison Park.

Liverpool’s injury list is looking good

The only certain injury Liverpool have for the Merseyside Derby is Gomez after the defender left the Plymouth match early on at the weekend.

Liverpool will be hoping Alexander-Arnold can feature at some stage at Goodison Park, however, Slot may not risk the full-back against Everton with Conor Bradley available for selection.

Alexander-Arnold could be the key to victory for Liverpool against the Toffees as the 26-year-old’s creativity will be very useful if the Reds need a goal against a tough Moyes team.

Overall, things are looking very good for Liverpool on the injury front, considering the stage of the season.

Slot will be hoping to leave Goodison Park with no new injury issues and three points, as Liverpool continue their push for the Premier League title.
