Deadline day is around the corner yet Liverpool are still to agree any signings but the Anfield natives are interested in deals, so here is the latest Reds rumours and gossip.

Just the exit doors at Anfield have swung on their hinges so far over the winter 2025 transfer window. Arne Slot is happy with the Liverpool first-team squad he essentially inherited from Jurgen Klopp last summer, and has even led the Reds to the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool also go into their last league phase game in the reformatted Champions League on Wednesday night at PSV Eindhoven atop the standings. The Merseyside squad can also seal first place without getting a point in the Netherlands if FC Barcelona fail to beat Atalanta BC.

But as deadline day edges closer, the Reds remain interested in potential moves to give Slot the weaponry he needs to add to Liverpool’s trophy cabinet. With that in mind, Rousing The Kop has rounded up all of the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip involving Liverpool…

Al-Hilal emerge as the favourites to sign Mohamed Salah as a free agent

Liverpool will be left to wonder how they let Mohamed Salah leave Anfield as a free agent if the winger does not agree to sign a new contract beyond his terms set to expire on June 30. Sides like Al-Hilal are also already positioning themselves to snap Salah up in a Bosman deal.

With the Egyptian already able to negotiate transfers for this summer, Al-Hilal are emerging as the favourites to sign Salah for free. The 32-year-old is still yet to decide convincingly if it is time for a new adventure, but Al-Hilal are set to swoop if he eyes a future in Saudi Arabia.

Hope lingers at Liverpool that Salah agrees to sign a new contract and ignores interest from the Saudi Pro League, where Al-Hilal have overtaken Al-Ittihad as the favourites by releasing Neymar. Al-Hilal would use the money freed up to pay Salah far more than Liverpool would.

Liverpool and Manchester United hold talks to sign Lyon star Rayan Cherki

Liverpool may be top of the Premier League yet the Merseyside natives are keen to identify potential reinforcements and believe Lyon star Rayan Cherki could be a possible target. The Ligue 1 side’s financial woe and plausible threat of relegation makes a bargain possible, too.

But while Liverpool and Manchester United have made enquiries to sign Cherki from Lyon, it is unlikely that either club presents a bid in the winter 2025 market. Instead, the fierce rivals feel the summer is a more appropriate window given the timeframe to do a deal this winter.

Cherki can move teams for £18.5m before the winter 2025 transfer window slams shut next Monday. Yet the only club to put any deal on the table to date is Atalanta, who offered Lyon £16.5m. Cherki is hesitant to join La Dea with Bayern Munich, Tottenham and PSG also keen.

Liverpool ready and waiting to agree last-gasp winter 2025 transfers

Despite Arne Slot only welcoming Federico Chiesa to Anfield and watching Liverpool agree a deal with Valencia for Giorgi Mamardashvili to join at the end of the 2024/25 term since the Dutchman took over last summer, the Reds may add to his squad before the window closes.

While Slot is insistent that the Reds’ head coach is happy with his ranks, Liverpool are ready and waiting to agree last-gasp transfers before the deadline on Monday night. But the Reds will only add to Slot’s squad if a deal is a long-term move and they would have a real future.

Incomings may be unlikely on Merseyside before the winter window slams shut on Monday but four Liverpool players could leave Anfield still. Kaide Gordon is on course to agree to his second loan spell of the term after returning from Norwich City, and will lead a mini exodus.

Liverpool also intend to find a new loan team for Luke Chambers as he has failed to feature for Wigan Athletic since the centre-back sustained a back injury in October. Decisions are in the pipeline for Jayden Danns and James McConnell, as well, amid Championship interest.

Slavia Prague confirm Liverpool are interested in El Hadji Malick Diouf

Slavia Prague chairman Jaroslav Tvrdik has confirmed that Liverpool have shown an interest in El Hadji Malick Diouf, who even has the admiration of Chelsea. The Reds and Blues could also have signed the left-back for £15m if they tabled offers to his Czech First League side.

Instead, Crystal Palace are the Premier League club who have formalised their interest with offers of £12.5m and then £14.5m. But while Tvrdik would not stand in Diouf’s way if a top-draw club came forward, Slavia Prague are loath to let the 20-year-old leave to just anyone.

Tvrdik said: “If Liverpool and Chelsea, who were also interested in him, had come with an offer of around €17-18m (£14-15m), I would have hesitated to approach it differently from the perspective of promoting the club or the player’s interest.”
