Arne Slot’s time at Liverpool has coincided with two quiet transfer windows at Anfield.
Upon his arrival, the Dutch coach found a very good squad left for him by Jurgen Klopp and everyone at the club believed it was good enough to challenge this season after spending big the previous summer.
Liverpool targetted a move for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi as the Euro 2024 winner was the only star they believed would improve their team long-term.
The Spaniard may have been a target for the current transfer window, with a view towards the 2025/26 campaign, however, Arsenal have signed Zubimendi this month after jumping ahead of the Reds in the race.
John Aldridge believes Liverpool should sign players this month to continue their push for the Premier League title, and so they can get a head start in preparation for next season.
The Merseyside club are on the lookout for potential opportunities as James Pearce admits that their transfer window is not fully closed.

Liverpool still active in the January transfer window
Slot has stated that he is happy with his Liverpool squad for the remainder of the campaign as the Reds push on all four fronts.
The Dutch coach has made his mark by improving several of the Merseyside outfit’s players and therefore, has not needed to add new faces to move his group of stars forward.
The Premier League leaders are more likely to focus on outgoings during the final week of the window as the situations of Jayden Danns and James McConnell at Liverpool have yet to be stored. However, The Athletic’s James Pearce has stated that the Reds’ window may not be over.
The Liverpool journalist has stated that the club’s stance throughout the January window has been that they are happy with the current options in Slot’s squad, but are ready and waiting to react if there’s a deal to be done that makes sense for the long-term.
Liverpool have held a long-term interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi and with the forward being linked away from the Bundesliga club ahead of Deadline Day, it could be an opportunity the Merseyside club pounce on.
Karim Adeyemi could be an option for Liverpool this week
The future of Adeyemi at Dortmund is up in the air as the winger during the final week of the January transfer window as the 23-year-old has fallen out of favour in Germany.
Napoli are currently pushing for the player after losing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG this month with Antonio Conte even calling Adeymei to get a deal over the line.
If it becomes concrete that Adeyemi could leave Dortmund this month, Liverpool could interject and try and bring the German star to Anfield.
The winger could replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool should the superstar depart at the end of the season, although it would be a big drop in quality.
Adeyemi has the potential to be a top player in European football, however, there is still development to be done before the 23-year-old is consistently performing at a high level.
