Deadline day is drawing ever closer but Liverpool are still to agree any signings in the winter 2025 window, yet rumours swirl about players heading to and leaving Anfield.
Life on Merseyside has largely been better than many would have predicted when Arne Slot took over as the head coach of Liverpool last summer. The Dutchman has also overseen very few deals since replacing Jurgen Klopp in charge and kept largely with the German’s stars.
Yet Liverpool lead Arsenal by six points atop the Premier League table, and still with a fixture in hand, ahead of hosting relegation-threatened Ipswich Town on Saturday. Slot has even led the Reds into the knockout phase of the Champions League with seven wins from seven ties.
But what the senior Liverpool squad looks like when the winter 2025 transfer window slams shut remains to be seen with the Reds in the market and facing interest in some of their key players. With that in mind, Rousing The Kop rounds up the latest Liverpool transfer news…
Borussia Dortmund slap an £84m asking price on Liverpool target Jamie Gittens

With Mohamed Salah out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season, Liverpool are having to identify potential attacking targets, and one player to attract the Reds’ interest is Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. But the Anfield club are far from alone in appreciating him.
Chelsea and Manchester United are even admires of Gittens, who Bayern Munich hope BVB will be forced to consider selling to their Bundesliga rival if they fail to qualify for next term’s Champions League. Borussia Dortmund prefer to sell Gittens to a foreign team if he does go.
Westfalenstadion chiefs have also slapped a €100m (£84m) asking price on Gittens, with the England Under-21 international boasting 11 goals and five assists over 27 games this season. Gittens even has five goals in his last eight Bundesliga matches yet BVB are 10th in the table.
Real Madrid want to sign Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate

Liverpool and Real Madrid are regularly connected in transfer gossip columns as Los Blancos look to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold for free with his contract at Anfield expiring on June 30. He may even be joined by a teammate with Real Madrid also interested in Ibrahima Konate.
Real Madrid are closely following Konate’s contract negotiations with Liverpool, as the Reds look to lock the 25-year-old down as his current terms are due to expire in 2026. Konate and Liverpool both want to agree fresh terms, but the Galacticos may test the defender’s stance.
Konate has to date not signed a new contract since he joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig back in July 2021. Yet the 21-cap France international is a fundamental part of the Reds’ backline under Arne Slot, with Konate starting 19 of his 22 appearances from 23 possible fixtures yet.
Bayern Munich look to rival Liverpool for Rayan Cherki’s transfer from Lyon

Liverpool are interested in signing Rayan Cherki from Lyon but would face competition from Bayern Munich if the Anfield squad do not sign the versatile France midfielder in the winter 2025 window. Der FCB have marked Cherki as a target but are not looking to land a deal yet.
Lyon are prepared to sell Cherki for £19m in January, yet Bayern Munich are only looking at potentially targeting the 21-year-old this summer at the earliest. The Bavarian side’s stance could leave the door open for Liverpool to sign Cherki, who has five goals and eight assists.
AC Milan set their stance on targeting Darwin Nunez’s transfer from Liverpool

Liverpool splashed £64m rising to a potential club-record £85m to sign Darwin Nunez from SL Benfica in June 2022. But the Uruguay attacker has often blown hot and cold at Anfield to spark speculation that his Merseyside career may be over in 2025, with AC Milan interested.
But, currently, the stance at San Siro is for AC Milan to hold off on targeting Nunez’s transfer from Liverpool until at least the summer 2025 window. While the Rossoneri admire the 25-year-old, who has six goals and four assists in 28 outings this term, he is not a priority move.
AC Milan may be right to wait, as well, as Liverpool are not interested in selling Nunez mid-season after starting seven of his 16 Premier League appearances so far. Arne Slot has even relied on the Artigas native to start in five of his seven outings in the Champions League yet.
Liverpool among the admirers of Sheffield United wonderkid Ryan One

Graeme Bailey has exclusively told Rousing The Kop that Liverpool are among the admirers of Sheffield United wonderkid Ryan One. The 18-year-old broke into the Blades’ senior side this season and is drawing interest from AS Monaco, Ipswich Town, Juventus and RB Leipzig.
Liverpool have followed One closely since he joined Sheffield United in 2023 but were also aware of his emerging talents at Hamilton Academical. Anfield chiefs have even asked that the Reds are kept informed of any updates with Sheffield United not ruling out selling One.
Bramall Lane bosses would prefer to keep One yet a transfer away from Sheffield United as soon as the current window is possible. But the Coatbridge-born Scotland Under-19 striker, who has just one goal in 13 first-team games for the Blades, has a contract until June 2029.
