Liverpool have so far managed to stave off any January interest in their first-team players.
The Reds had not been expected to do any incoming business, and that is exactly what has borne out during the window.
However, there have been plenty of rumours that the Anfield exit door could be a little busy this New Year.
Real Madrid have been trying to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in what would be the most high-profile exit.
But the Liverpool academy product is not the only one to have been linked with a departure. Federico Chiesa has had interest in Italy, with Serie A clubs supposedly keen on bringing him back to his homeland.
One of those seemingly big on Chiesa, AC Milan, have also readily been linked with a move for the enigmatic Darwin Nunez. And with the January market nearing its end, Milan’s plan for Nunez has reportedly been firmed up.

AC Milan firming up Darwin Nunez plan
Nunez has been linked with a move away from Liverpool having struggled to get going this season.
The Uruguayan had a big moment last weekend, with captain Virgil van Dijk describing Nunez as ‘very important‘ after his match-winning turn at Brentford. But by and large, the 25-year-old has not been good enough under Arne Slot.
Although interest in Nunez from Saudi Arabia has been played down, it’s clear that he could well be on the move in 2025.
According to the Liverpool ECHO, though, it is unlikely that Darwin leaves in the January window. They claim that AC Milan have interest in the No.9 but are now ‘almost certain’ to hold off until the summer.

They claim to have been informed by insiders that Milan are keen to bolster their attacking options – and that Nunez is admired – but that is unlikely to be ‘crystalised’ with a bid until the end of the season ‘at the earliest.’
Furthermore, Liverpool are said to be in ‘no mood to listen to offers’ for Nunez and reportedly see the former Benfica hitman as being an important figure at the club.
Can Nunez save his Liverpool career?
With Liverpool going so well in the Premier League and Champions League, it was always unlikely that Nunez would be sold in January.
He may have disappointed overall this season, but as last weekend showed, the Uruguay international is still capable of playing a big part for the Reds.
Beyond that, the feeling is starting to pervade that Nunez will not be at Anfield by the time next season kicks off.
But if he can kick on from Brentford, there should still be hope that something can be salvaged. It’s easy to see why a team like Milan would want Nunez, but he has given himself a platform to save his Liverpool career.
