The January transfer window is well underway and undoubtedly, there has been a lot of chatter around Liverpool.
Traditionally, teams have refrained from dipping into the transfer market midway through the season, but the Reds have had a lot of luck with January signings over the years.
The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo have all been successful January signings in recent years and it appears as if the Reds could repeat their trick this time around.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is on the market in January after failing to agree an extension with Napoli.
PSG are also in the running to secure his signature, so the Reds need to be on their toes and react quickly if they want to snap him up.
And now, David Lynch suggests Liverpool could take a tried-and-tested approach that worked well with the Luis Diaz signing to jump ahead of PSG in the race for the Georgian.
Liverpool’s plan for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia emerges

RTK exclusively revealed yesterday that Liverpool could offer two attackers in a swap deal for Kvaratskhelia, with Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa the players in question.
Chiesa has been linked with a move to Napoli in a separate deal, so there is surely a conversation worth being had there by the looks of it.
Nevertheless, it won’t be a straightforward deal to complete as PSG are frontrunners to sign Kvaratskhelia this month, having already started negotiations with the player and the club.
Liverpool are currently waiting on the wings to see if there is a deal to be done, and Lynch suggests they could let PSG do all the hard work before pouncing, which was the case with Diaz and Tottenham Hotspur in January 2022.
“Liverpool aren’t in talks with Napoli at the moment, it’s very much PSG taking the lead on that,” said Lynch on his YouTube channel.
“You get very much the sense that Liverpool are waiting in the wings, this is an approach we’ve seen them take previously.
“When Luis Diaz joined Liverpool in the January window, Tottenham went as far as agreeing a fee with Porto before Liverpool pounced.
“I think they’ll take a similar approach this time – find out what feel it’ll take for Napoli to sanction a sale and then dive in and say we’ll match that fee.”
Liverpool hold advantage in Kvaratskhelia deal

Lynch also feels the fact that Liverpool have already agreed a deal to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili could work in their favour, with the goalkeeper well-known to Kvaratskhelia due to the time they spent together with the Georgian national team.
“Liverpool have got a really, really strong case,” continued Lynch.
“One other thing to mention that is in Liverpool’s favour I would say, they have of course signed Mamardashvili who is also Georgian.
“They played together on the national team, they came through the same academy as well years ago. I’m sure they’ll know each other really, really well.
“So, I think Liverpool have quite a few things on their side in terms of convincing the player, but we are still a little bit away from that.”
