Liverpool are set to be active in the transfer market in 2025 after a quiet first summer under Arne Slot.
In 2024, Federico Chiesa was the only player who walked through the door at Anfield, although the Reds managed to agree a deal in principle to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer of 2025.
The Reds’ attack is widely regarded as their strongest suit, at least on paper, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from linking with a handful of forwards.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has attracted interest from the club.
Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia stalling on new contract

With Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Chiesa, the Reds are well-stacked in attack for the time being.
However, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush has been linked with a move to Liverpool, while it has also been reported that Joao Pedro has keen admirers at Anfield.
Judging by these links, Liverpool could be in the market for an attacker in the upcoming windows and may have just been handed a boost to sign Kvaratskhelia.
The Georgian – whose national teammate Mamardashvili will arrive at Anfield in the summer – has been a key player for Napoli since they won the league under Luciano Spalletti but has thus far refrained from signing a new contract.
RTK exclusively revealed earlier this season that Liverpool are ‘all over’ Kvaratskhelia, with the Reds well-informed about his situation.
And now, Romano says the gifted attacker is stalling on a new deal at Napoli, with PSG also in the running to secure his signature.
He wrote on X:” Napoli’s important new contract offered to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia remains available on the table… still no answer.
“Understand Paris Saint-Germain remain attentive to the situation and in active contact to be informed. Kvara, on top of PSG list since last summer.”
In recent hours, PSG have stepped up their interest in Kvaratskhelia and are willing to sign him in January, with Gianluca di Marzio reporting that the Parisian giants have already made an opening offer to sign the Napoli man.
Do Liverpool really need Kvaratskhelia?
Kvaratskhelia is a fantastic player and his exploits for club and country over the years need no introduction.
However, most of his best football has come as a left-winger and Liverpool are stacked in this position, so it makes no sense for the club to spend top dollar on him.
If the Reds are to reinforce their attack, they’d be better off signing a striker as Nunez has struggled to produce the goods and Jota’s fitness woes are starting to become a bit of a problem.
