Liverpool continued their fantastic start to the Premier League season with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Arsenal.

Arne Slot has now guided Liverpool to seven wins, one draw and one defeat from his nine league games in charge.

The superb start comes despite the Dutchman opting against spending big on new players in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool were strongly linked with a new midfielder, with Martin Zubimendi having seemingly been the closest to moving to Anfield.

But the Spaniard decided to stay at Real Sociedad, with Slot instead relying on the group left by Jurgen Klopp.

Didi Hamann makes Wataru Endo prediction at Liverpool

And they haven’t let the boss down, with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones all impressing.

But former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has now predicted Wataru Endo to come into the field, with the pundit saying on talkSPORT: “The next four or five games I think we find out more about the team.

“But I think the manager is thinking as long as they get results he is reluctant to change it, because if it’s working, why change it?

“But I feel over the coming weeks and months when obviously you get injuries and suspensions, I wouldn’t be surprised if Endo plays a more important role in the games leading up to Christmas.”

Will Liverpool sign a new midfielder in the January transfer window?

Endo joined Liverpool for £16million from Stuttgart last summer, with the Japan international impressing when filling in last season.

But he has made just five appearances in all competitions this season, featuring for a total of just 86 minutes.

The midfielder’s future at the club is undoubtedly uncertain, with Ipswich, Fulham and Wolves wanting to sign Endo.

But even with his apparent back-up role at Anfield, the 31-year-old could be kept for the season, with the Reds definitely in need of such a player.

His fellow midfielder Harvey Elliott is currently sidelined, and Endo will undoubtedly be needed by Slot in the coming weeks as injuries and fatigue kick in.

But if Endo is allowed to leave in the January transfer window, Slot must seriously consider bringing in a replacement if he does have real ambitions of lifting silverware this season.
