As ever during this time of year, Liverpool supporters are having to turn their attention ever so slightly to see how their raft of loan players are getting on.

The Reds have perhaps been a little quieter than usual in terms of the loan market this summer, with one or two more deals still likely to get done before Friday’s deadline.

Stefan Bajcetic is set to join RB Salzburg for the season despite an incredible late offer from Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Lewis Koumas is already shining at Stoke and Luca Stephenson bagged a first goal of the season for Dundee at the weekend.

But no matter who has already found a temporary home and who may yet secure one, Liverpool’s highest profile loanee this season will be Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Valencian press rave about Giorgi Mamardashvili

Mamardashvili finally secured his move to Liverpool on Tuesday. After weeks of negotiations with Valencia, the Georgian is now a Red.

Luminaries such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia congratulated Mamardashvili on his move, with the 23-year-old set to join up at Anfield next year.

For now, though, Mamardashvili is continuing with Valencia. The ‘keeper will spend the year with his current club before his big switch to Merseyside.

And, judging by a match report of Wednesday’s La Liga game against Athletic Bilbao, Valencian based outlet Super Deporte are already dreading his eventual exit.

They claim that Mamardashvili ‘prevented embarrassment’ during the 1-0 defeat, keeping his team in the game with three big saves.

The best sounds like it came from forward Inaki Williams in the first-half. With Williams diverting a header towards goal, Mamardashvili is said to have made a ‘miraculous’ stop to tip it over the bar.

It wasn’t all good news, it must be said. It is noted that the Georgian made a ‘bad clearance’ at 0-0 which almost led to a goal. Mamardashvili was spotted apologising to his teammates after Athletic put the chance wide.

Overall, though, it sounds like people at Valencia are wondering exactly what they will do without Mamardashvili. Indeed, it’s claimed that ‘the only good news’ at the club this week is that they still have Giorgi around for the full season.

Liverpool told of Mamardashvili potential

While Valencia will have been disappointed to lose Mamardashvili, they may still look upon having him around for another year as being a big positive.

He was always expected to leave the club this summer. That he has done and still ended up there for the season is a big old bonus for them.

For Liverpool, it makes plenty of sense too. Georgia assistant manager David Webb has claimed that Mamardashvili will be one of the best goalkeepers in the world in two or three years. But he won’t do that without playing.

At Valencia this season Giorgi is clearly going to be a key player and get plenty of chance to improve his game.

One thing’s for sure anyway, Valencia will have a few million more eyeballs from Merseyside on their games this season.
