Liverpool are ramping up their summer business in the final days of the transfer window.

After so long without a new signing, the Reds now look primed to secure two in 24 hours.

Liverpool announced the addition of Giorgi Mamardashvili on Tuesday before sending him back on-loan to Valencia for the rest of the season.

On Wednesday, Liverpool moved to the verge of a surprise deal for Federico Chiesa. The Italian will arrive as part of the immediate first-team squad.

While Chiesa’s imminent arrival is much the more exciting of the two, Mamardashvili’s potential impact should not be downplayed either.

Liverpool told of Giorgi Mamardashvili potential

It is tough to get excited about any new goalkeeper coming in when you’ve already got one of the best in the world between your sticks.

It’s even more difficult when the new arrival is not even due to arrive for almost a year.

Nevertheless, Mamardashvili could quietly turn out to be a wonderful piece of business by Liverpool. The Georgian is a man mountain.

Once he completes his stint at Valencia, it has been reported that Mamardashvili will compete for a place at Liverpool in 2025/26.

And according to Georgian assistant manager David Webb, some short time after that, the 23-year-old could be considered one of the absolute best around.

“Moving to Liverpool will help him kick on even further,” former York City manager Webb tells The Athletic.

“He’ll probably go on to be one of the top three or four goalkeepers in the world.”

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sends Mamardashvili message

Liverpool supporters are going to have to wait a fairly long time to see Mamardashvili in action for their club.

Nevertheless, they’ll be paying very close attention to how the Georgia international is getting on for Valencia in the meantime.

It’s a shame in many ways that Mamardashvili wasn’t able to come to the AXA Training Centre and have his proper unveiling before heading back to Spain.

Despite that, the goalie’s move has still been warmly received by his countrymen. Napoli winger and reported Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has sent his wishes to Mamardashvili, for example.

Who knows, perhaps the two Georgian’s will be arriving at Anfield together next summer? Here’s to dreaming, anyway.
