When Liverpool are likely to finalise move to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus

Liverpool finalised their first signing of the summer transfer window on Tuesday as Giorgi Mamardashvili joined from Valencia.

Unfortunately, the Reds will not reap the benefits of the deal to bring Mamardashvili to the club until next season.

In the more immediate future, Liverpool need to get themselves into gear. The clock is rapidly ticking down on what has so far been an incredibly underwhelming summer.

There was positive new on Monday, at least, with reports that Liverpool are trying to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

It has been claimed that Chiesa is keen on the move to Liverpool and with Friday’s deadline approaching, things are moving quickly.

Liverpool on the verge of Federico Chiesa addition

There is an argument that Liverpool don’t currently need Chiesa in the first-team squad.

However, the 26-year-old is clearly an incredibly talented player who is get-able for an absolute snip this summer.

The latest reports claim that Liverpool are ready to bid just £10m for Chiesa and that that could in fact be enough to get him out of Juve.

All that will remain, then, is coming to an agreement on personal terms with the player. Although the transfer fee is cheap, there’s a likelihood that the Italian’s wages will not be.

Nevertheless, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are now very, very close to striking a deal with Chiesa.

Taking to X on Wednesday morning, Romano says that everything could even be sorted with the Reds by the end of the same day.

“The agreement between Federico Chiesa and Liverpool on personal terms is almost done! Final details being sorted today,” says the transfer expert.

“Four year contract ready after initial talks exclusively revealed on Monday. Juventus and Liverpool in direct talks to reach an agreement on fee.”

What number will Federico Chiesa wear?

Barring anything unusual, we’d expect that this will get done in the coming hours. It’s almost time to start getting excited.

As Chiesa prepares to join Liverpool, talk will turn to things such as what number will the Italy international wear for the Reds.

Chiesa currently wears No.7 at Juventus, but with Luis Diaz in possession of that number, that isn’t going to happen.

The former Fiorentina man wore 25 when coming through in Florence, before taking 22 upon initially joining Juventus in 2020. Both are currently available at Anfield.

However, we think Chiesa is most likely to go for Jordan Henderson’s old No.14, the shirt he has claimed for Italy for the past few years.
