Liverpool leading the race to sign player who’s like a ‘young Luis Suarez’ and are set to make bid

Liverpool are set for their most exciting end to a transfer window in years this week.

The Reds still have plenty to sort out as we head into the final few days of the summer market.

Having announced the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili on Tuesday, Liverpool no longer hold the title of the only team in the Premier League yet to do business.

With Mamardashvili not due to join the Liverpool squad until next year, though, the Reds remain the sole club yet to strengthen their team in the present day.

As the clock ticks down on the market, supporters will be growing concerned that that will go unchanged. However, Liverpool do appear to be making their move.

Liverpool readying Federico Chiesa offer

The amount of business Liverpool do before Friday may depend on who heads out of the exit door at Anfield.

The Reds are in talks to free up space in the squad, with Tyler Morton potentially going to Bayer Leverkusen and Stefan Bajcetic off to RB Salzburg.

Whether their dual departures lead to Liverpool bringing in a new midfielder will be a topic to keep an eye on.

There could be a change at centre-back, too. Joe Gomez might still leave and will certainly need replacing if he does.

Meanwhile, one transfer that does not seem linked to exits is that of Federico Chiesa. Liverpool are in for Chiesa as the window draws to and end.

Unfortunately for the Reds, Barcelona want him as well, and there were claims on Tuesday that Barca were still ‘convinced’ Chiesa would end up at Camp Nou.

According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale, though, Liverpool have now pushed the Spanish giants out of the way and are in ‘pole position’ to sign Chiesa.

“Liverpool, as anticipated in the last few days by Fabrizio Romano has surpassed Barcelona (which failed to free up salary space) and is now in pole position for Federico Chiesa,” Di Natale reports.

“Request Juve always 15mln € , my news is that the Reds’ offer will be 12mln € including bonuses (10+2). It could close at these figures.”

Liverpool looking for Federico Chiesa bargain

After the Martin Zubimendi saga this summer, it’s great to see Liverpool dealing with a player who really wants to join them.

Reports have suggested that Chiesa has been looking at Liverpool for the past two years. He is clearly very keen indeed on the move.

With the figures being mentioned, the deal now looks very do-able for the Reds. There’s no reason it cannot happen from here.

The one thing to mention about Di Natale’s update here is that even with Chiesa available at a bargain fee, they are still trying to knock the price down. If Liverpool get their way, then they’ll sign the Italy international for an incredible £10m.

Joe Cole has likened Chiesa to a ‘young Luis Suarez‘ in the past. If that is anything like being true, then this could be the steal of the century.
