Liverpool are gearing up for a busy end to the transfer window this week.
The Reds have stayed quiet throughout the summer months so far, but look poised to make some moves in the final days before the market closes.
With a couple of potential holes in the Liverpool squad, supporters may be hoping to see their club target a new midfielder and potentially a centre-back.
However, some unexpected news broke on Monday evening, with reports that Liverpool are considering a move to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus.
With Chiesa available for a surprisingly low fee, it looks to be a real possibility that the Reds bring the forward to Anfield before Friday’s deadline.

Does Federico Chiesa want Liverpool move?
If it had been up to Liverpool, they would already have signed a new player during this summer window.
The plan was for the Reds to bring in Martin Zubimendi as Arne Slot’s marquee, deep lying midfielder. However, Zubimendi got cold feet and went back on his word, ultimately staying at Real Sociedad.
As a result of that episode, Liverpool as a club – as well as their fans – will be wary of another player turning them down at the last minute.
Italian players are generally unwilling to leave their home country, especially when already at one of the peninsula’s biggest clubs, and who are bigger than Juventus.

Thankfully, though, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa does not share this mindset.
Taking to X late on Monday night, Romano reports that the 26-year-old is instead ‘excited’ by a potential switch to Anfield.
“Understand Chiesa has given his full availability to join Liverpool after initial talks,” says the transfer expert. “He’s excited about this possibility and contract won’t be an issue.
“Juventus want Chiesa to leave and asking price is around €15m. Deal ON.”
What about Barcelona?
Despite Romano’s suggestions that Chiesa is moved by the prospect of joining Liverpool, they are seemingly not the only club in the mix here.
As per Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Barcelona are still very much in play. It even sounds like the Catalan giants are first in line for Chiesa.
“Federico Chiesa is out of the project at Juventus and is looking for a new destination. Barcelona got their hands on him,” writes the reporter.
“The Juventus striker and his agent Fali Ramadani will wait another day to see if Barcelona will be able to sign the class of 1997. If within 24 hours the Spanish club does not give guarantees, Chiesa will also start looking at other solutions, including Liverpool.”
To some supporters, that will almost certainly read like Liverpool are a second choice for Chiesa, and they will not necessarily be happy about it. But given Barca’s financial predicament right now, we don’t think the Reds need to worry too much.
