It is all set to be a chaotic few days at Liverpool as the transfer window comes to a close.

The Reds have put themselves in a position where they could do with a couple of signings in the final days of the market.

It has not often been the case in the past for Liverpool supporters, but the last days of the transfer season look like they could be a rollercoaster at Anfield.

Some interesting names have already been linked, with Liverpool surprisingly considering a move for Federico Chiesa from Juventus.

With the news about Chiesa breaking on Monday evening, there were also claims that the Italian is not the only attacking signing Liverpool are looking at. And another exciting name has now emerged as a target.

Liverpool interested in Kingsley Coman

With Liverpool insiders confirming their interest in Chiesa on Monday, it’s clear that the Reds do want to add another attacker before Friday.

That will perhaps split opinion among Reds supporters, but it seems that Arne Slot wants to primarily add a back-up to Mohamed Salah to the squad.

Chiesa is available for around £10m and for that kind of price would make a very good understudy indeed.

However, the 26-year-old is not the only big name wide forward on the market right now.

Like Chiesa, Kingsley Coman is a name that will be very, very familiar to any European football fan. Like the Italian, Coman is also being touted around by his club before Friday’s transfer deadline.

And according to French journalist Nabil Djellit, Liverpool are one of the sides interested in signing the France international.

“Liverpool is interested in Kingsley Coman to strengthen his offensive sector,” Djellit simply writes.

Federico Chiesa or Kingsley Coman?

Deals for the likes of Chiesa and Coman appear just about the furthest thing imaginable from Liverpool’s usual transfer strategy.

Both heading into or already in their late 20’s, both on the comedown from big clubs, it sounds like a recipe that the Reds tend to stay away from at all costs.

However, the playbook is being ripped up this summer and if Chiesa is seriously on the table, then there’s no reason Coman shouldn’t be either.

The 28-year-old is another versatile forward who is capable of playing across the front line. He is just over a year older than Chiesa, which may weigh in the Italian’s favour and it does remain to be seen how much Bayern would want to let Coman go.

Talent wise, perhaps there’s not much in it. Coman was labelled as ‘one of the best wingers in Europe‘ by former Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann. But that was in 2022. In the time since the Frenchman’s star has surely fallen. At the right price, he’d still have plenty to offer, though. Interesting times ahead.
